I completely agree with mantis on this one!

Why have all the prizes constantly going to the ones that always get them...not saying they are not deserving, but unlimited for a qualifier...c'mon. The Open qualifier I shot 62 first time out, then 58 second time...just as mantis, couldn't touch it after it got to 57...which it should have never reached.

Two single play rounds for a qualifier and two single play rounds for the championship, makes a heck of a lot more sense than shoot a 58 and within 3days you're not good enough anymore..bit dicey I'd say.

Guess WGT has never watched CaddyShack or heard of "Cinderella Story" Carl Spackler...lol

I believe it's done this way to maximise the profits. No good being single play even if it would be more accurate, unlimited is a far bigger cow.

Think i will spend the weekend playing nothing else,Just hoping i will get the breaks for 1 round,so i can post a unrealistic score, even though i would have no chance in the final!

If you are playing unlimited, I think you have to get the first time you play right.. then you maybe lucky next time with weather conditions, but I'm sure something in the code "knows" you already played and is gonna make it harder for you. You might get lucky in the other chances, but don't try one after the other.. maybe better the next day, or 2 days after. I feel is like that. Don't bang your head asking yourself why you missed those Eagles or that seemingly easy bird. WGT is mocking you as you waste your balls. Take some time, relax.. and try again another day. Just my opinion, though.

    JuanMendoza:

Thirdly, reading a putt is probably the most difficult skill in the game, and no software can do that for you.

The "putt for dough" quote comes to mind here.

Percentage wise, I reckon only about  5% of my putts from 5ft+ have come from dinging the putt.  The times that I do ding it are far less, but a lot of those times the missed ding is intentional to account for the break.

I reckon if I was using an automatic ding program, i'd still be on amateur.

As an aside, the first ever 18 hole round I played on BPB (reputedly the hardest course) I shot a 62 as a Tour Pro.  It will probably be a long time til I beat that "perfect" round - and it was certainly not perfect, I shoulda hit a 60 to be honest - so if I see a Legend shoot 54 on it I am anything but surprised.

There might be some people who cheat using ding programs, I dont know for sure.  But they are only cheating themselves, cos hitting the ding is no way of guaranteeing you hole the putt.

If you press ctrl alt and delete at the same time when you swing you can get holes in one like all the time. lol, no but seriously I can see where scores in the 50s would be possible if you play a course enough.

That is how I improved, playing the same course over and over and over again and not hitting restart.   Eventually you get used to the greens and know what shots to hit at certain parts.   Better clubs do help especially with a slower meter, but practice practice practice.  Ive went from shotting around par consistently on st andrews down to the low 60s and eventually i hope in the 50s.  I figure the 50s will come when I get enough rds in to get the R11 at level 88.
