TBH. I was of the opnion that there will be at least another BEST OF for stroke etc. and Blitz/CTTH.

So not really a BEST OF just a set of mixed holes to give us something a little different.

I just posted a winning 69 on the 18 in my single play CC. Not spectaculor, but not bad when you consider I was 3 over after 5 and later had 3 long putts miss by a whisker.

I don't really mind Beth#1.. nice hole to start off the round.  They should have had Oak#9 as the 18th hole, instead of St. Andrews 18th... That would have made the scoring interesting...lol.

I found that the Front 9 is very easy and the Back 9 can be brutal... for me anyway. Maybe they should have swapped the holes around to make it more balanced.

    Cheers

True, front nine is much easier than the back. Need some of the CTTH holes only, like Edgewood, Bali, etc.

Just played them once so far and got to say its a pretty decent mix of very easy and some few very tough holes. Certainly some signature holes amongst them, but it could be an even better mix with some oakmont and some exchanged holes. I would also take out the really easy holes apart from the par 5s, just not interesting to play.

    Cheers, Hans

    TarheelsRule:

I have actually had the opportunity to play St Andrews in real golf.  I just don't see those two holes as best of holes.  The 11th is a very average par 3, especially if the wind isn't blowing a gale into you.  The 14th is interesting in terms of the hell bunker and the alternative fairway but in WGT land, unless you have a 20 mph wind dead into you it is just a par 5 that can be reached without much fanfare.  I understand why 18 is in the grouping, although it is a pretty weak hole and 17 is one of the best holes in golf.

I agree with you on BPB, 1 is a very weak hole as is 6.  I don't care much for 15, basically a tricked up hole with a horrid green.  Kiawah as I mentioned has some good holes on it but the 3rd isn't one of them.  Not sure why Oakmont was left off to should be in there with at least 3 or 4 holes.

I have played St Andys too, twice actually. I love 11, sometimes a hole just doesn't click for one person I guess. But I can tell you it's widely considered one of the best in the world. 14 is a hole, kind of like 4 on BPB, that has a lost a bit due to modern technology. Pros make these holes look much more simple than they are because they just overpower them.
