Thanks guys but i've played other courses and actually birdied st.andys #17. Still one of the hardest holes out there.

Well, maybe so but you've played over 100 rounds and haven't broken 85 yet on RSG, Bethpage, Oakmont or Congressional... Play some other courses, it's good for your game. If you only play St. Andrews 90 percent of the time, your score's gonna go down but you won't really get better.

I think the opposite. Play ST.A or any one course as often as you can then you will get better faster than spreading yourself thin playing all the courses at once. Like anything that needs to be learned the more you practice the better you get, but if you skip to another task before you master the original task then it will take much longer in the long run. Then when you have made par around St.A  pick another course and apply the same method until all the courses have been played to par. A much faster way to learn IMHO.

St. A is NOT an easy course by any stretch of the imagination and when you get your par around there you will be ready for the next challenge. The only problem is dealing with boredom of playing the same course all the time but think of reaping the rewards in matchplay or tournaments in the future.

    Good luck.

Just played StA #17 for the first time as a Legend into a 21mph headwind. EXTREMELY challenging....to say the least. Managed to just barely get a little bounce off the mound by the building on the right. Ball kicked out to about 252 into the first cut of rough. As I recall, I still had 258yds remaining to get to the hole....still into a 21mph headwind.......which would take some kind of a miracle shot I doubt I could ever pull off. Ending up missing a 12ft putt for par and then ended the round  : )

I like the Ben Crenshaw quote someone posted earlier:

"The reason the Road Hole at St. Andrews is the most difficult par-4 in the world is because it was designed as a par 6."

I would say that WGT mapped that hole pretty accurately. An already difficult hole becomes extremely difficult when played into a strong headwind.

Well played Rockeey, to escape with a bogey into a headwind at 17th is a good play. The way I play it into a headwind is to make sure my drive is on the fairway at all costs, then play my second to leave my lob wedge as the 3rd shot. If I get it right with the wedge then I'm left with a short putt to make par, but it doesn't always work LOL. Going for gold on this hole more often than not messes up a good round.
