absolutely nothing wrong or against any rules about using any other club besides a putter on a green, those that complain are probably those that have not tried to master the shot,i agree it's just another shot in my arsenal.....

Pro's have been known to use a wedge on the green when there is rough in their line or something along those lines.  It's a good shot to have in the bag especially when you get in so tricky putting spots on the courses.  Besides not like it ruins the greens for all the rest of the groups behind you! lol

For the first time in about 4 years I actually had to use a wedge on a green in real life yesterday. Pin cut tight on the right. I put my shot on the green but on the wrong level, on the right edge. Severe right to left mound coming off the raised trap lip. Using putter would have required me to putt the ball off the green, through the fringe, through about 1 1/2" rough and the trap, too.

60* wedge and no divot later, ball popped up onto the fringe on the other side of the mound and ran up about 7' above the hole. Good thing the wedge was uphill because there was no way to get spin on that shot.

And then I missed the 7 footer.
