     WGTniv:

    Hi guys,

Chips, pitches and punches can all be used on the green with moderate success, however you will need to take the time to learn expected results since being on the green's surface isn't the "normal" situations for using these types of shots.  Flops will not work at all since you cannot realistically sweep under the ball.  The ball reacts properly for the "pick" action you'd need to play a good pitch or chip from the green.  It's just up to you guys to figure out what clubs work in each situation and to avoid the front edge of #17 at all costs, even if it means bailing out left and playing for par.

What I don't think we want to promote is the use of a club as an alternative to the putter on longer, severely breaking putts

A year ago we had exactly that issue.  Many complaints were heard about people using all kinds of shots on the green (flop included) to avoid using the putter.  It was done so much that it became a detriment to the game.  Some folks wouldn't putt at all outside of 10ft.  That needed to be corrected and thus we have the system that is in place today.

You may want to look into this again. I just had a match play  (no names). My opponent was using the new Cleveland CG's and used them on the green on virtually every shot. He holed 2 and was within a foot on all the others. It just didn't seem right

    WAH WAH WAH!

While I agree that it can be OVERUSED, what are you going to do when faced with a 100 foot putt with rough, trap, or fringe between you and the hole? 3 PUTT???

    I think not!!

Any club on any surface!!!! that's the RULE

.... putters r made for greens..........

so does that mean i'm not allowed to use my putter from the fairway ( fringe )

which clubs are to be used from the bunker ?

which clubs are to be used from the rough ?

should there be a rule, only driver off the tee ?

what if i break my putter ?

what if i forget to put my putter in the bag ?

14 clubs... your choice what they are

I agree, Danny, except for wrong greens: No club from wrong greens!

While there are some technical limits in WGT (try the driver from the fairway), in RL I like

    - putting from the tee (only for fun) or out of a bunker,

    - driving from fairway or high rough lies,

    - chipping on the green (best results with my rescue).
