I agree, Bma. I am a "feel" game player. I just eyeball the shot and conditions, make a selection and fire away. My expectations are not to be an award winner but merely to enjoy playing the game. Just the same as my real world golf game. Good enough for a real world 9 hdcp but I'll never make the Seniors Tour.
I do appreciate the time and the effort of people like the OP who offer up their more technical explanations on how to lower scores. Some people are feel players, some people are technical players. To each his own. There's room in this game (and the world, for that matter) for both.
and honestly, it starts off technical (especially after seeing the screen-caps and the calculations) but it's 2nd nature for me now. i don't "exactly" line it up anymore, it's more like "OK, i'll move it here, this should be about half way, a little more.........ahhh, that's good enough."
anyone who has played an AS game with me can attest that i'm a pretty fast player. at the end of the day, you just want to be aimed in the right "ballpark" and this is my best way to do it. when you've got a 28mph crosswind at St. Andrews, it's pretty cool watching your ball start out way off the green, then come back and settle in dead on the flag-stick like some kind of heat-seeking missile.
