What do you do for long iron shots?
Do your calculations work when zooming into the green or do you have to be setup at the bal?
I find that cursor moves all over the place from way to short to way to long fiddling around with it at the ball setup.
it's based on ball setup, not the zoom mode. you just have to do the best you can. again, it's not an exact science, just a way to measure the immeasurable. i can usually get it pretty accurate with the cursor, but if it's really all over the place, i can zoom in, move it, zoom out, see if it's where it needs to be, then adjust accordingly. again, if you have a 180 yd shot and trying to move the cursor around brings it to only 60 yards out, the box is going to be a different size, so it won't be as accurate as it can be.
Also, i may be stating the obvious, but you can move the cursor on the fairway, but you can also move the cursor looking at the birds-eye view shot on the right hand side. that's what i use most often, because trying to aim on the fairway will get distorted if there's any kinds of hills or anything between you and the landing spot.
**edit**
forgot to comment on the long iron shots. do the same thing. the further the target is, the smaller the box is. so you're not aiming as far out as you would on a wedge shot that would go higher and be impacted more by the wind. that's why on a 215 yard shot, you wouldn't use the box 100 yards out as a gauge because it is much bigger than it needs to be. to be accurate, keep the aiming point closer to 215 yards so the box is the appropriate size for that distance.
again, it's trial and error, but i really think it's an effective way of judging instead of just winging-it
