So I just finished the tournament for Olympic with a 78,

and I am very disappointed.  The course played fine except for a

few quirky problems/woes with the "gimme putts" algorithm

which costed me at least 6 strokes on that game.  I will

outline the WGT algorithm failures now:  I am not sure if there

is anything that can be done to solve the glitches, but I am

confident in the abilities of WGTICON to relay a message

back to the "wgt mothership" that there might be a problem.

I did NOT have any problem with the tournament speed greens.

    Olympic 18

Hole 2 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 4 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 7 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 9 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 12 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 17 - Forced to miss gimme putt

    and

Hole 17 - Green is not tournament speed

    (playing like very fast speed)

Hole 18 - Green is not tournament speed

    (playing like very fast speed)

The green speed seems to be about 5% below Tour Master tournament speed to me. I found no problems apart from my own shortcomings.

Each course has its own differences. Just because speed is set at same stimp meter, it does not mean it will play the same. Each course is unique with unique slopes (each hole is different too). Many courses have different type of grass.

I think that after few rounds, the adjustments will make it seem normal.

very impressed with olympic. the fairways are narrow so you gotta keep your drives in the fairway obviously to have a good shot at the greens.  plays well and no problems or glitches noticed. tough course to play.

Are you serious? What does "forced to miss" mean? Somebody have a gun at your head or something?

ole 2 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 4 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 7 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 9 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 12 - Forced to miss gimme putt

Hole 17 - Forced to miss gimme putt

     2 problems with this.

First, I agree with YJ.. how in hell were you "forced" to miss? That has to be near the top of the list for stupid statements.

Secondly... there is no such thing as a gimmee putt, in spite of what you might think. I was playing last night.. lagged a 40 footer to .9 feet ( a gimmee par putt, right?). I ended draining the .6 footer for bogey. Like the dozen or so other short putts like that that I have missed in my 3+ years, I probably didn't pay attention and hit it either too hard or way too far off the ding to move the ball .

Amen. Have to call BS on this post. No such thing as a gimme putt or being forced to miss.

The only buggy thing I have observed was that on a 6-foot putt on the 9th I was giving conflicting readings: the front view showed the break going one way and the reverse view showed it going the other way. Since they can't both be right I consider it a failure of the mapping.

(There are similar examples on the other courses, with the possible exception of Bethpage.)

I agree with Zag. No putts are gimme's.

As for the speed of the greens i've found them to be spot on. Are you sure it wasn't uphill more than you think? 1 tip a friend gave me is to move the aim marker past the hole a few feet and see if it changes significantly. I've had a putt that was 2in uphill but just 1foot past the hole it went to 4in uphill. With this information i knew i could smack the crap out of it and not go to far past the hole if i missed.
