For some reason using full back spin with even the L83 G20s or even the L90 R11 set works differently than most of the clubs that you have access to prior to that.  With the L58-59 G10 (older) set I could use full backspin on a high end ball and still get rated distance. The newer clubs they are "selling" spin a lot more but are affected by the spin more in terms of distance.  It isn't that this is necessarily bad - you just have to really be deliberate in learning the distances with these clubs.

When I first bought the L83 G20 set I hated it (moving up from the G10 set) but it was just because they reacted differently to different situations.  Once I got used to the new set I realized that they had WAY more potential than the G10 set that I replaced.

Lvl 58+ G20's work for me with the Callaway i(s) balls. I approach every pin with backspin. As a general rule i knock 5 yards off my shot for backspin. If I'm not close it's because I missed the Ding left or right or missed the read. I've been attacking the pin since I got my first R11's and have only played with high trajectory clubs ever since. If they aren't high trajectory I won't even consider them an option, even my wedges are. I will probably be getting the G20 upgrades over the R11's as I don't plan on ever using Nike balls at $4+ a sleeve. $2.50 a sleeve for a virtual golf ball is bad enough.

I just got the L83 G-20s and noticed I need to add about 5 yds distance when using BS. Kinda hard getting used to remembering to add that ydg., but I do like the high trajectory though..

YUBHatin have you ever tried to buy Nike balls at a real golf course. They go for upwards of $ 13.00 for a sleve so $.4.00 or 400 credits is a real bargin.

Bahahaha, this isn't a real golf course. This is a video game. LMAO !!!

P.S. Srixon ZStar-XV's cost the same in a store as the Nike's, however they are 2.00 a sleeve on here (and the colors are all the same price too). Don't compare reality to a game plz.. I'm still looking for the vapor trail Nike's in the real world, let me know when you find them.

I agree, the balls are way over priced and will probably be the reason I eventually quit again.  You can't compete without the Nike balls or new gear every 20 levels.

The Calli's and L59 G20 irons are fine for the courses without alot of elevation changes.  Try beating 66 on Olympic from legend tees with Calli balls... won't happen.

Calli's are fine when you are hitting 6-PW on all but a couple approaches... teeing it up from Master tees.  Probably much more enjoyable too.

I'm trying to qualify, it will never happen with Calli's and a 275 driver and irons that top out a 210 and LOSE yardage with backspin.

I shot a 59 with G20s and Callys. Under 66 is a "fairly" easy feat. I dont think my skill will take me under that 59 for a while though. Just short of the cut.

I do agree with you though that anything short of the Burners or R11s and your struggling to stop the ball on some greens.

It certainly will if you make the shots. The ball isn't go to do it for you.

Not with the L59 G20's you didn't!!  The L59's get SHORTER with backspin... the L83's get LONGER with backspin.  Needless to say that makes a HUGE difference.

YUB has the L59 irons... I was referring to his and my setup.  I was looking through his score history and it looks like he doesn't play courses with elevation changes to much... he likes Kiawah alot... not BPB (B9), Olympic etc.  Nothing wrong with that... play what you like and what you enjoy.  His best full 18 in the Qualifier looks like 70+ from what I can tell.

So I was just telling him that on the harder courses you need both distance and trajectory to score well... hence why I am using the Nike's right now on Olympic... till I qualify... I will eventually be the lowest level player to qualify.  :-)  My best is 62 on full 18 but shot a 30 (-6) on the back MP stroked play yesterday.  If anyone else has done it with a 275 driver and L59 G20's... you got mad skills!!!
