  What a joke!  57 just to smell a 2 round playoff:) Why doesn't WGT play the qualifier on Kiawah and rename it the US/safe sun open & play from the ladies tees like last month. Maybe the cut will be 53 or so.

  Really realistic for the 5 million or so WGT players, who like myself have never even come close to a 60 let alone a 57...hahaha

  I have to bring this up just because I qual'ed for the VUSO last year at CCC.

  I had just turned legend maybe a few weeks before the Qual was to expire, on the very last day a few hours after the Real US Open was over, I decided to give it another go (I think the cut was 58??).

  Oh, up until that time I had NEVER broken 60.

  Just stick with it, make it (the Qual) a learning experience for each hole

  Don't think of it as a "57", but think of making 13 birdies,, don't quit if you are even after 4 holes, because there are 14 birdies left.

  Don't quit if you are just -2 after 9 a great back nine with two Eagle holes (17 n a good approach and 18 on a nice pitch/punch in) you'll get it done.

  The reason I bring this up (don't restart) is I have seen many posts stating "I finally got to "X" under after nine then parred out etc"

  The thing is you need to learn the back nine just as well as the front nine.

  IRL only the best qualify for these tournaments. on WGT only the best qualify, stop whining and find someone to root for, pick your player and give them your support. Oh, and please stop complaining about not being one of them. Like they say, These guys are good.

  A few months back after making Legend I was struggling to hold down a round of 66 on a consitent basis. Recently I've been scoring sub 60 and quite a few 28's and 29's. I have improved as a player.

  Playing Olympic I get frustrated because I feel I should be shooting lower than I am, but thinking back to a few months ago and how I have improved...I have realized I am not at the skill level to post a qualifying score for the US Open...Yet.

  You get better over time, it's frustrating sure, but it's the case with anything you try and gradually get better at.

  I probably won't qualify for this Open, but by next year I feel confident to be in the mix for the qualifying as I feel I am getting better every round I play.

  This may sound like a cop out, but I think it is the game, and if your not ready you won't qualify. I am starting to shoot half way decent my putting has greatly improved, and I can hold my own on all the  other course's including Oakmont.

  When I try to qualify at Oly. putts just won't sink even if the grid shows no green movement, ding the putt and it is like I just pushed the the ball, double check all other putts by using the pitch mode, see green movement  adjust accordingly  ball goes straight as an arrow.

  Say OK it's me go to another course aim the same way I do for any putt shoot - 5, 6 for nine holes. That's another thing stuck on -6 at top for nine holes it will not let me progress any further yet, no matter what I do you can bet 3  out of nine holes will be par.

  So  you have to shoot, to be safe 16 birdies out of 18 hole's, yeah that's and I quote " real life "

  To shoot a 57 on Oly or even better 56, just like Mb said before.. if you don't make the first  few birds, restart... keep on restarting until you have that 57/56. Everybody does it, it's the way of doing things.. unless you one of the lucky ones and shoot the low score 1st pop...lol

  The secret is also to take notes for every shot you take, so the next time you know what you did wrong if it comes around again...

  ...and yes it is a headache, but if you want to qualify... this is what you need to do :)

  I wrote a post quite a long while ago ("The difference between good, great and reality") about how we play the same courses over and over (not a different one every weekend like real pro's) and our ability to "restart" whenever we feel like it. That with the putting aid (dots) and exact wind indicators, are all things that the real life golfer does not have. Not to mention that we don't have to walk 7000 yards just to play an 18 hole round of golf.

  Infact we are quite comfortable in our houses (or offices), no stress, no crowds, no pressure.

  So of course you will see scores like 56 on a regular basis. Don't be so niave to compare what we are doing to real golf, the demands are worlds apart, and as a result the scores are different. Fairly obvious actually.

  That said, this is the "most realistic" golf game on the web. It doesnt say "Completely realistic", it says "The most realitic". I have yet to find another game that compares to it in this regard.

  I enjoy a good whine and wine as much the next customer, but think carefully of what we are doing here, AND your own skill levels before smashing WGT for false promises or misleading you, they have, infact, promised you nothing but a good game...And have delivered with that promise.

  Qualifying for the US open by shooting a 57,58 or 59 is realistic? Was there one guy who shot 59 in qualifying for a US Open this year, let alone 200. Was the cut line even close to a 59 in qualifying at any of the sites?  Or was it 10 strokes higher on basically every site. 

  If your going to use the term "realistic", at least understand what the word means. 

   

  Just add 10 strokes to everyone's score.

  The cut line will be 67.

  Wait the same (roughly) 200 players will still be at or below the cut.

  Do you honestly think if the course/conditions etc were harder that resulted in the cut line being 67 instead of 57, every one else would have a better chance?

   

  Of course it would be...the difference between making easy birdies and hard pars is immense. 

  I think that is the point...I didnt come here to debate the merits of the top 200 players...as I said, they are clearly light years ahead of the majority who play this game and have earned the right to be showcased.

  My point was that it is not realistic in terms of a US Open setup...the speed/firmness of the  greens and the thickness of rough are what makes the challenge unique, and it just does not shine through in virtual world.

  I see it as a Legend tourney. The lower tiered players have little shot at the qualifier because of our equipment is far less superior and we don't have the practice from the back tees. I shot a 65 today and think thats pretty damn good. I would like to know how many non legends made the cut.

  Well said Roger.

  Problem is, WGT has their own rules for tournaments. How would it work out if all the Pro's got to shoot unlimited times before Sunday, just to make the top 10?

  Would not be be much of chance for those that shoot well under the first rounds, would it?

  Playing unlimited rounds would not allow them to get any rest between weekly tournaments would it. And only the best could continue to improve their scores.

  Single play is the only way to make ANY tournament fair to all players.

  65 is awesome!

  I'm a Legend, and I'm thrilled with a 65 on that course. For some reason I can't shoot low there. Like my Co-CC member (Woodworkery) mentioned, the putting seems deceptive. I can't put my finger on it, but the greens are something totally different to anything else on WGT. Perhaps it's the dots and colour grid that is different to how it would be on another course. Not sure.

  If WoodWorkery, is struggling, I do not feel so bad lol...He is an excellent player.
