Is it just me or does anybody else think that some people take this game way to seriously?

Usual negative stuff as per from you.

Just curious... do you consider 3/4 spin 3/4 of the way down between the top or center and bottom of the ball?

Nice work Chris in helping others.

If the dot on the ball is in the middle or center then there is no spin. If the dot is below the middle or center then it imparts backspin. If the dot is above the middle or center then it imparts topspin. 3/4 backspin would therefore be 3/4 below the center or middle of he ball and the bottom, or 1/4 above the bottom of the ball. But I'm sure you knew that already.

A simple yes or no would have sufficed. One minute I'm too negative and the next I'm too pro WGT.

Even my cheapo Ping wedges, without moving the spin dot from the center of the ball, impart some backspin on the ball. So, that point could easily be viewed as half backspin... and I've talked to players who 'measure' spin that way. Like I said, I was just curious as to how Chris was 'measuring' the amount of spin he was using. Handy chart Chris, thanks for sharing. I just got the R11's a couple days ago and have been fighting with distance control ever since.

I have found that it is the landing surface that exerts backspin on the ball or topspin depending on which slope it lands on when you haven't put any spin on the ball. Landing on a flat surface will rarely impart any backspin at all.

I never use backspin on my CG16 64 wedge unless I am landing on a downslope, otherewise it will spin off most greens with backspin applied, even sometimes coming back up a slope to leave the green.

That is another reason why my CG16 60 and 56 degree wedges are rarely used and the old satin wedges are in my bag, the backspin is reliable and controlable over the CG16s. IMHO.

Many players view dot in center as 50% spin, top of ball as 0 spin, bottom as 100%

How do these players exert topspin then?

Very nice, Chris. I applaud the way this brings more information that helps others into this game. Thanks for taking the time and putting in the effort.

It's just you. If a person is playing RGs, skins, MPC, etc.  it becomes a gambling game. I'll use every bit of information I can. Whether it is from my own experience and making notes. Or from other members hard work to created detailed graphs, like Chris has done. Or putting distance charts like Dianne created.

Once you gain that knowledge and implement it into your game, the shots start becoming second nature. At that point you rarely reference the notes.

Those are impressive charts Chris. I can't say I've ever seen anyone create ball flight charts in my 2 years here. Nice work.
