That's how I play the spin on the ball, seems to work.  Thanks Chris for the work on your charts. Even a casual, non serious player can benefit just by looking at the way the ball behaves with spin.

Just to clarify, all spin is backspin.  The top and bottom positions of the dot represent the least amount and the greatest amount for the given ball and club.

It's very difficult to put topspin on a ball unless you top it, and believe me you don't want to. The Magnus Effect would cause your ball to dive.

    Hi Chris,

Did you also do this from the tees? With the burners the distances from the tees are a few yards up. I am sure the R11 irons wil act the same. How many yards do you add from the tees? I could work it out myself but do need 20K exp before i can get the R11 irons so thought i'd ask

Thx for sharing this with the community. It's highly appreciated. (at least be the take note and crunch data crowd)

Just to clarify, full spin is common sense, all the way down,No spin is the default spin, Middle of the ball,  3/4 spin is 3/4 way down the ball (from top, or preferably find halfway between no spin and full spin, then go a few fractions down again, but this is your to practice, as a few fractions up can send ball 5 or 7 yards longer, it comes with practice.

And as for tee's i add 2 or 3 yards, so Say i had 207 yard approach on tee, i use 210 iron full spin (205 yards) and its fine, but some tees seem to give you extra yardages sometimes and other times they dont.  I dont know how many times i've used my 180 iron on Bethpage #8 (par #3) and its landed within 1 or 2 yards 1 time another its been 6 or 7 yards short for the same shot/same conditions!!
