Imagine the joy you could stimulate on an unknowns face were they to have the round of their life, and find themselves among the greats?

    Hi Lizzie!

But in contrast, what a shame it would be if some of the best players here got metered a few times a round and missed the cut because of it?

I understand limiting the quals to some degree though.

Not all the top players qualify every year in the real Opens for whatever reason, and that is why an unknown is able to be amongst the greats.

I agree with the suggestions that WGT should allow players to practice all they want... outside of the qualifying round, but then limit the qualifying to one single attempt.  And if any of the top players don't make it for whatever reason, be it because of a meter stutter or anything else, then they just have to accept they didn't make it in this comp this year... and maybe the little guy can actually win one of the major prizes on WGT as can happen in real life, because as it is at the moment there is only a handful of players who can walk away with the prize.

It should be how one does 'on the day', not what is your best score out of one million attempts!

Lets putt it this Mio... Unlimited Qualifying is now a joke and I think might be giving this game a bad Name.

Why not release a new course early and let everybody practice on it for a few weeks... then start Qualifying for the major tourny.

Qualifying can be the same thing as what is running now... 4 single play rounds...

Ok... the Elite Wgt golfers will still Qualify, but it gives the chance for plebs like me(not a pleb, but a novice..lol) to say Yessss, I did it....lol.

Unlimited Practice and  4-6 attempts to post a scores in which the best one stays. You would have 4-6 chances to make a good score. You wont have unlimited restarts, but you wont have to lose a chance because of meter or any other reason.

That is as good as unlimited restarts for the best players.  Why not allow the little guy who has one good round to have his day???  The better players will get many more chances in the future.

U.S. OPEN -- trees eat balls

VIRTUAL U.S. OPEN -- balls always drop

    Advantage:  Virtual

U.S. OPEN - trees eat balls

VIRTUAL U.S. OPEN - balls always drop... usually out of bounds!

    Advantage:  Hmmm!

What he said! How 'bout that lone tree left off 16 tee? if the ball hits it, it gets lost in mysterious, invisible "weeds."

    Advantage: WGT's bottom line

Look at the leader board (not to mention the actual scores) for the #3 nation event and the leader board for the Virtual US Open.

IMO the nation event is way more interesting with a few of the top 10 players own individual rounds having as much as a 10 stroke difference between them.

Single play (4 rounds?) for qualifiers has to be the way forward  - we all get metered etc - them's the breaks.

Once a player qualifies, they should not be able to keep playing qualifying rounds. This only drives down the cut line. Its the only fair thing to do being there are so many players trying to qualify.

So keep playing to try to better your score at all times.

i shot a 56.....i could keep playing it and shoot a hundred 56's, 55's...54's...53's....but the cut line would remain at 57.

only if there are 225 (or whatever the tipping point number is) are on 57 and someone decides to play again and shoot a 56 would the cut line get lower.

I agree with KY....my first score from day one was 58.....so I played it a couple of times to shoot the 56 required.

U.S. OPEN -- Bubba pulls driver for his 2nd on #16 fairway... NICE

VIRTUAL U.S. OPEN -- I dare anyone to pull a driver on that hole in the championship rounds!

    Advantage:  Bubba Watson

I will do! I have no shot at winning so I will try that maybe in the 2nd round!

U.S. Open - Webb Simpson wins

Virtual Open - Some guy with a funky name will win

Advantage: Virtual Open lol as long as its a funny name I like it :)
