Scorecard has been updated. Lou and Mike, please verify that all the match ups are correct.
This has been a nailbiter the whole way and, as expected, it's going to come down to the last few matches.
On a more personal note, to both teams:
Win, lose, or draw - Deviations or WGT All-Stars - the sportsmanship, the teamwork, and the excellence of all 32 players has been extraordinary.
There is not a single player on either team who doesn't deserve to be here representing the absolute pinnacle of the millions who play this game. Not because of the low scores you're all capable of shooting, but for your class, your competitive spirits, your humility, your sense of fairplay, and your willingness to step up and put yourself on the line.
The winners of this competition get squat. You don't win a weekend getaway. There's no shiny new car. You don't get a hat. You don't even get a sleeve of balls.
Still, the absolute best in the game - not just the 32 in this field, but the 32 others in the invitational and the countless more who wanted to be a part of it - all decided it was worth it to be a part of the greatest tournament field ever assembled... for nothing, and that's really something.
It is pure competition for competition's sake.
But this kind of event doesn't happen organically. It doesn't just grow from nothing. It takes a lot of work and it takes a certain amount of risk to put yourself on the line and say "I want to see what happens when the best players go head to head in a team format and I'm going to make it happen."
On the doorstep of the third and final round to decide the winner of this event, I think this is the right time to stand up and give Lou (lvietri) a huge round of applause.
This was his baby from the very beginning. He convinced the best players in Deviations to risk everything in exchange for nothing. He got them to put their reputations on the line against every single other player in the game - And here's the amazing part; he did it before they even had an opponent.
By contrast, Mike and I had it easy, all we had to do was say, "Who wants to play heads up against Bollox and Jake and SCK and all the rest of the best of Deviations?"
There was naturally a stampede.
Thank you Lou for making all this happen. Without your hard work, tenacity, and dedication to keeping this at the highest level of competition, it never would have gotten off the ground.
Three very, very big cheers!
Good luck All Stars in round three!
