And over what time period, did they pour all the concrete under and around the greens at St. Andrews? :big laugh

It's amazing how a club and ball combination that in similar conditions elsewhere goes 200 yards, can fly 180 yards, land in the fairway in front of a green, yet  go 300 yards at St. Andrews bouncing and rolling for what seems to be forever. :another big laugh

The course was intentionally programmed this way.

Fast fairways. Hit the ball low (to keep it out of the wind) and you're gonna roll it out for miles.

Have you ever watch a real Tourney/event on TV played at SA?

Man back in the 90's seeing Daly hit 400yard 5 irons...wow!

play the course for real fella and you will see why it plays like that on here..believe me you can get an extra 100 yards easy with wind and the correct bounce.

You'll find most link course green's very very firm. The sand base allows for excellent drainage and firm true greens. the only problem is you can't throw the ball at the pin and have to run the ball up to the pin. you can tell who is a member of a links course just by their ball flight and ball control.

i once played 36 holes on a  link's course, in the morning on the 2nd hole i hit the ball over 380 yards with a fairway wood in the afternoon i hit a driver into a gale the ball landed on the 150 yard maker and bounced back towards me finishing  80 yards from the teebox.  and i made par on both occasions.
