For the heck of it I played some practice rounds with the starter clubs and free ball from the Championship tees yesterday with low wind and "fast" green speed. Olympic-79. Congressional-79. Oakmont-69. Kiawah-77. I found it funny that Oakmont wasn't nearly as hard as the others and I only putted 20 times. Olympic had 4 fairways I couldn't reach, Congressional 3, Kiawah 2 and Oakmont only 1.
This should be a blast in match play with both tee shots landing very close to each other in like conditions with the ding. Approach shots have to be played very different than usual. I had to hit to center of greens multiple times to avoid bunkers with run up shots. Tons of shots landed short then rolled off the back anyway. It's gonna be ham and egg`ers dream. ;-)
BTW, I found the starter wedges to be the worst clubs of the starters but the putter worked really well. I had forgotten that.
