IMO, should have more spin than they do. On #9 Kiawah, after flaring my second shot almost 40 yards right on a near-ding, but wind was quartering off the left, so not entirely a surprise...I chose to hit a flop with ful backspin. Dinged it...ball landed on a near flat and proceeded to roll another 8-10 yards. Not what a true flop shot should do.

I couldn't agree more. In real life I use flop shots more than anything else in my short game... even when most would pitch the ball I usually flop it. The SPIN is the reason why.

Don't get me wrong I realize that a sand flop/ rough flop is not going to have much spin.. but from the lower cut and fairway it should pretty much just bite for a yard or two.

Also.. just re-read your post.. the flop shot should always be aimed to the left. I've had more success with flop shots on here than any other shot.. and I always aim 2-5 yards left and hit the meter early left as well.

I still agree with your original point though. Flops are high spin shots and shouldn't roll additional +4 yards if hit correctly.

enough that with the ball I use, a full shot to a flat green with no wind will roll maybe 5 feet or so.  The ball makes all the difference in the world in this game.

That's not true. Patience my friend.

The "balls" only offer minimal benefits.

WGT isn't "perfect". But it's the best damn golf game i've ever played.

Very wrong. With the right clubs the ball makes a huge difference in controlling the landing/rollout as well as distance.

Let's just say this...same "set" 3-wood produces more spin on a full shot into a 5mph headwind than the flop shot. Agreed, not perfect, but equally as frustrating as the real thing. Different reasons.  ;)

Yes you are correct. However in terms of the flop the balls don't make much difference.

I disagree. I use the spin to fine tune the flop. Topspin will enhance the roll out and backspin will slow it down. The action isn't drastic because the shot is a short one, up and down, but it does make a difference. High spin wedges with high spin balls (SD) will make a definite difference.
