Yes you are correct. However in terms of the flop the balls don't make much difference.

I use the spin to fine tune the flop. Topspin will enhance the roll out and backspin will slow it down. The action isn't drastic because the shot is a short one, up and down, but it does make a difference. High spin wedges with high spin balls (SD) will make a definite difference.

I use the flop when I can't come up with a better idea. It depends upon the wedge, the ball, the aim, the wind and the hit.

I use the flop almost exclusively now instead of the pitch, and far more than I even use the chip at this point.  I am not holing out or giving them the same type of run at the hole, but if you get good with it, many times it takes bogey out of the equation.

I really dont think they are that far off in terms of spin, as I use high spin balls and high spin wedges and it does make a huge difference.   As mentioned in the other posts, the back spin/top spin does make a large difference in the roll out.  Same thing with wind and green speed/pitch.

Unless Im thinking of the wrong side, #9 at KI has quite a large mound on the right side of the green so I imagine it would not be too receptive to hitting a flop shot from that distance coming in, although I could be wrong as I usually miss left...or way left to be exact. P)

The short game portion of this game is what keeps it from being a good, but not great, game.

In 20+ years of playing golf, never have I mis-hit a chip shot to see it move all of 6". LMAO. Yeah, there's realism for ya.

I know what you mean fuster. Sometimes when I hit a chip shot I get a true hit and roll and sometimes the ball goes nowhere. I'm starting to pull my hair out. (What little I have left). I know in real life you can dub a shot but how the hell am I supposed to know when I'm going to do it in this game ? Somebody please help !

Rocky... chips and pitches need over 50% power applied.  Anything less and you're likely looking at a flubbed shot.  Use a club that'll let you swing over 50% on the power meter.  You'll like the results.  Oh, and never try to chip out of the rough.  Choose to pitch instead.

Well said, in addition never chip if the distance out of the rough is more than 25% of the distance to hole, or pitch if more than 50% distance to the hole.
