Learn to play as you would in reality it really does help. Or you can keep the attitude, its the clubs not me.

This seems to happen only with Wedges... and who cares if it does happen?

You need to start checking that before each shot, it's very important. What if I have my 50 yard wedge on a 48 yard shot into the wind? Sure, the 50 yard wedge is what I'd TYPICALLY use, but in this case I'm going up a club. I check before each shot, and as should you.

TLD you may be right but in this case default would be 98 yard club which is no where even close leading to new players frustrations. That is why people care if it happens.

But hey your one who quits on the last hole to protect your precious avrge if you disagree send me an invite and we will play 5 lots of 9 holes and we will see if you can actualy play to your 61. avg.

    chipshotcharlie:
Dude in this game club selection and yardage are one and the same.

And right there is the problem.

No, my friend, they are not.  Every one of my wedges comes with 5 different yardages.

    • Full
    • Punch
    • Pitch
    • Chip
    • Flop

And to make it even more confusing, my Pitching Wedge at "Punch" is rated exactly the same as my 54° Wedge's Full shot.  Both are rated at 98 yards but will act different when the ball comes back down.  With 4 wedges in my bag, and 5 shots per each, there is a lot of different shot combinations to choose from, and it's up to ME to choose which wedges hits which shot.

So, we are back to the main problem...  if the 'electronic caddy' gives you the wrong club for the shot you want to take, and you take the shot anyway, it's not the game's fault.

    It's yours.

With all of the possible club combinations available today the program would have to know your specific holding. Back when the game first started these choices weren't there and it would have been easier to program a global function to fit everybody. That has obviously changed but apparently the game hasn't.

One way around this is to know your clubs. Don't play the game "by the numbers," play it as if there was no caddy. Personally, I'd like to see an option to send the little bugger back to the clubhouse for more beers or balls-anything, just get outta here! LOL-JMO

Anyone ever play Outlaw golf? Now HERE is how you treat a caddy.

Sorry about the ad before the video, I could not find it without.

We should be able to select our own club defaults and have a caddy name and avatar. It's a realistic solution to a problem that is brought on by our own ignorance.

I've never trusted my caddie, he always lies to me. I don't know why I even keep him. Maybe it's because he's so cheap! Only a bottle of whiskey every round...

Dude in this game club selection and yardage are one and the same.Change club and guess what the yardage changes. So there for as the original poster said if your shot is 48yards why does the caddy select a 98 yard club when he has a 50yard club in his bag.

If we need to check it all the time why have it in the first place, this is my argument.

I have no problem with it i just agree with the original poster.

Watch the next PGA tourney and you will see that the pros discuss a shot with their caddy. So here you should do the same. If you agree with the caddy and it's the wrong club it was your final choice. If you disagree with the caddy and make a good or a bad choice it's still your choice. The caddy is here (on WGT) to offer ADVICE. It is your choice to take it or not.

I find the caddy choice correct about 70% of the time.
