I know that on several of the courses that we play, St Andrews, Beth Page, Oakmont for example there are multiple pin placements. There is also going to be more pins on the other courses, or so we have been told.

My question or comment is how does WGT determine the use of the multiple tees. I play all the courses in all forms of the game. I can tell you with 100% confidence that they are not truly random. I have played many rounds at St Andrews and I would say that I see the up tee on hole #11 (the par 3 on the back), maybe 1 in 100 times. The same goes for some of the other pins, #15 at BPB, how often do you see the back pin.

It is strange that on other holes, like #1 at BPB you see both pins very often, same with #1 at St Andrews. I think that it would make the game much better if we actually did play all the pins instead of one set about 90% of the time.

they are not random.

if you create a practice round, you will see that there are 3 different tee settings. those are arranged based on a value how hard each hole location is.

this is also based on different tiers

for example:

I rarely get left location on #10 sta and short pin on #11 sta

which basically means #10 location is easier and #11 is harder. Because I am a legend, I get more hard locations than easy one, so if I get short pin on #10 sta, then i have bigger chance get easier pin location on #11.

sometimes it switches up but i may go 20 rounds and not see 1 pin location.

some pins are much harder than others, so you don't see them alot. for example bp #7, I rarely see left pin now.

Thanks ICON, for some reason my assumption was that they were random and that we should see them lots of times.

So in a stroke, play, alt shot, skins that I set up does that mean that the pins will generally be set up in the toughest positions versus a game that I join that is set up by a lesser player?

I don't know who determined that the back pin on 11 at STA is the easy one, I've 3 putted that up pin many times, it is 20 yards shorter though. Thanks for clearing this up for me as I mentioned I just assumed they were random.

Still think it would be good to vary them some so we get to see the different shots more often, makes you think more.

i think pins are determined by whoever sets the game, so if a master tier player makes the game, you will likely see pins that you haven't seen in a long time or a collection of those pins at the same time.

#11 def has harder shorter pin. the reason you don't think so is because with best balls/clubs, you can fly there and stop most of the time. with any other club, getting inside 10ft is near impossible and then you are left off with a snake of a putt, while long pin is relatively flat behind and not a big break from right.
