Okay - first let me say that I think Olympic was done wonderfully and am thankful for the new course offering.  Props to WGT.

I am also stoked about the new pins we are hearing about for Kiawah and CCC, but this got me to wondering - What about Olympic?

We have had Olympic available for play for almost 3 months now and are still seeing the same pins.  I'm really hoping that when the course was mapped there were additional pin placements figured in for a little variety.  This is one of the reasons that St Andys, Bethpage and Oakmont are great.  I'm hoping the same for RSG but after over a year in play I'm guessing that it wasn't mapped for any additional pins.

Apologies if I'm missing something, but once you have the course set up surely having new pin positions shouldn't be that difficult?

It's all about the views they have. If they didn't take the right pictures you'd have the closest they have and then you get that cockeyed front to back view or a skewed look at a putt. It will be interesting to see how they pulled it off at Kiawah.

New pins on Kiawah can just be put in the position of every dodgy camera shot we've got now cos they certainly didn't take those shots for the pins we've got now did they? :)

Great point, D. I wonder if maybe they did change a few views already as I came across a putting view on Kia 10 that I have never seen before. It was eye level from behind the pin.

I'm sure they had to go back and take thousands of more pics, probably hundreds for each green. there's no way they could just add hole locations without them

I don't understand why WGT doesn't do several hole locations when you shoot each course.... for a relatively small number of additional photos and extra work, considering you're already there, you get a HUGE return. Having 3 or 4 hole locations on each course would improve the variety dramatically, for a pretty small investment compared to doing a whole new course

Maybe they already did. Shooting the course is the easy part. I'll bet they've learned so much about mapping the courses correctly that it would pretty much be a no brainer to go back to their first try and make it right, using new locations to match the pictures they already have without the added expense of having to go back to Kia.
