& dump those Raptures if u can .. trade 'em in for the lvl59 G20's .. they will take u far ..

Have to disagree with that thought. I went from tour pro to legend using the level 48 raptures. And are still playing with them. I say if you can control your shots well, stick with them.

I totally agree.  There is nothing wrong with the lvl48 Raptures.   Slow meter and they are very forgiving.

+2, although in my case I use the lvl 33 raptures and I am Tour Master with a 61.68 average. I carry a 3 hybrid to make up for only 190 yard 3 iron. And since the pw is 100 yards I only have 2 wedges, 58 and 64 deg ping tour w's.

i believe the g20s are well worth the money and are better than the raptures.  the g20s have much more precision and spin and almost as much forgivness.  get the g20s.

    well done Cavan ..

the lvl 59 G20's were clubs i used just before i hit legend .. just a suggestion

at TM i started playing with 3 wedges, hence my opinion on the G20's ..

i suppose if some players can hit Master with starter irons, then Raptures can take u a long way ..

when u hit Legend though, u gonna need a lot of extra distance .. lotsa long approach shots into the green with 3&4i ... 180-220yd approaches, so then u'll need something like the lvl83 G20's, Burners or R11's .. which leaves a gap between ur PW & lofted wedges .. resulting in dumping the hybrid & bagging an extra wedge ..

the long 3i on those iron sets effectively replaces the hybrid .. the faster mtr speeds on these irons takes some getting used to, but once you've gotten used to it, you won't look back .. just my opinion

    but kudos to the guys for Rapturing @ TM & L .. lol .. u'll be lethal with G20's i'll bet ..

Not to hijack, but I can appreciate the debate between iron sets.  I, too, am trying to decide where to go with my starters (need to dump them...duh) before I hit Master.  I could likely make Master with them, but would like to get something first before the tees move back and shock me.

Some of us really cling to forgiveness....like me.  Big "dots" of forgiveness really save us in rounds.  My take on where I sit...

    - L27 R11's- I like the distance and forgiveness.  Trajectory may be a bit flat.  And, meter speed may be a bit of getting used to.

    - L48 Raptures- I was debating these heavily, but for the investment, I don't think I'd keep them as long as R11's or G20's.  But, love the forgiveness and meter speed.  They may lack a little in distance and precision when compared to the other sets, but then again, so do the starters and I'm doing better everyday with them.

    - L59 G20's- I play R11 woods and really love Taylor Made, but think I'm leaning Ping here.  More distance, higher trajectory, more precision when I hit the ding all lead to these clubs.  And, on top of it, most TM's I see are playing either G20 or R11.  Lots of Legends, though, seem to pick up the R11's.  I think that tips off the class of these two sets of clubs.  My only reservation is the forgiveness factor.  I can be off the meter and really like that forgiveness.

Is this a good assessment so far?

As for OP, the combo of ranked rounds and avg score is what you'll hear from everyone.  Numbers are numbers.  Just keep dropping that avg and you'll move up.  There's something to be said for moving a little slower than anticipated.  It's a marathon, not a sprint.

i also played the Raptures before moving to the lvl59 G20's ..

it's a trade off .. sacrifice forgiveness for trajectory, stopping power & accuracy .. the higher trajectory means your shots are more affected by wind, so u gotta be close to, or on top of ding .. even if you miss ding fractionally in the direction of the wind, u'll end up some distance from the hole .. if u miss ding a little opposite wind, the result is uasually good ..

i use the b/spin game on my approach shots, so the accuracy & stopping power is what drew me to the those kinda clubs .. right now i alternate play between the lvl83 G20's & lvl 79 Burners .. use Burners mostly which stops harder than G20's ..

if you prefer the roll-out game, which i don't, then using something with less stopping power might suit you, but my belief is if u wanna be inside 3yds on most of your approaches, no matter the distance, then you need those clubs that i've mentioned .. thats just my opinion & my way of playing ..

also, especially at Legend, u need the distance of these irons to get to the pin & stop it quick .. those Tourney greens become tricky with longer puts ..

also depends on whether u wanna compete in tourneys or just play for fun .. me, i like posting good rounds & a good score on the odd Tourney ..

my opinion is that your lean towards the lvl59 G's is the correct 1 ..

Are the Lvl59 G20's better than the Lvl68 Rocktballz Set?

The  G20`s will give you loft plus distance. Also these will keep your swing meter even.Your clubs show that you like a slow meter and the G20 irons are the same meter speed as your driver. I use them, and they play great. I sometimes hit off the champion tees in practice rounds just to see how my clubs will play. I have no problems reaching the greens with my irons. So stick with the slow meter, get the G20 irons and have a ball.Hope this helps. Happy Swinging
