GlassMan27:Hot Shots Fore! for PS2 is still hands down (IMO) the best when it comes down to uneven lies and draw/fade shots. That game is pretty old, yet still light years ahead of this game when it comes down to realism (shotshaping). They were able to figure it out ten years ago, why not now?
Gadzooks I didn't think I would comment in WGT's favor on something !
GlassMan27 valid points, even TW2007 was moe advanced in some ways but what we must all remember when offering critique of WGT is that it is a FLASH BASED INTERNET FEED GAME ! And in saying that we therefore must understand that there are limitations in what can be achieved without cost - and by cost I refer to the overhead of loading times for the initial game and the response to each shot.
Frankly I applaud their efforts in many ways to have achieved what they have.
On having said that though I think they really need to take a long hard look at features on the planning books as I said in a previous post here, and respond to user complaints/issues as primary issues rather than introducing new features which are frankly of limited appeal.
Shot shaping is a definite, forget the click early click late - that should totally just be relevant to direction not variation in ball flight. In fact that part of it makes the game a tad flakey particularly when their are holes which are not responding correctly to minimal missed dings !
New courses is a definite - yes I can;t go around all the courses 18 under Par like some but the same holes same courses week in week out loses interests with the punter (aussie slang term sorry guys).
Why is Cabo de Sol still a pay to play - I don;t fathom that ?
Why when you are setting up a game to play against others does the damn system go to the ripper you beaut screen for the USPGA Tournament Courses and make you go through the setup again ?
Eradicate the annoyances add features people want and forget the profit motive each time you put fingers to keyboard. I know people want to put on a tournament but some of their number don't have credits to play or are kids who can't or don't have don't have the ability/or permission to put money in. So let the kind hearted souls pay for the game a flat fee open to his/her club members and take your cut from that.
Remedy the lack of a handicapping system. There is l;iterally miles of forum posts on how the average is not really indicative of the way a player is playing. Sure it opens up sandbagging but they are there now so you got nothing to loose.
I could go on , but won't , but I think everyone should recognise the complexities of designing and implementing a game such as golf and the sheer logistical nightmare that online gaming is !
