I agree in practice rounds the ball we have in play shouldn't be bound by any Tourney or ranked round rules or conditions.

I do think in ranked rounds or Tourneys, we should be DQ'd and the round ended if we run out of whatever ball we have in play from the start of the round.

For everyone referring to the real life One Ball Condition (or Rule, or whatever you want to call it), that condition does not apply to practice. Practice round are not competitions. Practice rounds don't count in the stats. Credits and prizes are not at stake.

Players should be able to substitute equipment at will in practice rounds and not just when they run out of something.

True, but we are still limited in that our 'bag' can only be equipped with 1 make/model of ball at a time - even for Practice rounds.

Since you can buy a sleeve of whatever ball you're currently using at any time during a game (if you have 1 left) without leaving for the Pro Shop, I really can't see the problem.

That's actually leading to the suggestion that should be made to make the game more realistic. If the game switch  "Practice?  Y/N" is set to "Y", open the bag to all equipment in a player's inventory.

I know it's is much more complicated than that; I'm not a computer guru in any way, shape or form. I seriously doubt that anyone at WGT would even look into the programming involved. It would make the game more realistic and slow down a lot of complaints, though. I'd be willing to bet they'd reap the rewards of a ton more mulligans used as well.

Who cares for complaints? Not the deciders obviously!

Costly programming, negative outcome for the company => no chance at all for realisation!

Thank you for pointing out the obvious...I turned off putter pal first thing...still affected meter.

Start a practice game to check condition of a ball?...I have...sometimes forget to click "Practice"...then penalized for quitting.

WGT "CHANGES"  the brand of ball during play to a WGT ball...change is change... your logic doesn't make sense. You say:  " I suspect changing the programming during the game to allow for any but the equipped ball and the free starter ball would be a programming nightmare" .....well  ...you have a program in place....change it. I'm not asking  to re-invent the game.

In tournament golf...if a player empties his bag of balls into a lake....an agreement by committee (players in group) can allow a player to continue play as long as the ball is similar and legal in specifications. They do not make him hit a rock.

Don't seek any analogy to real golf here. In this game program, there is one type of balls in the bag, and the access to the inventory is blocked during a game. Thus you have NO CHOICE of any other balls!

Wrong! I have no idea where you got that, But if he loses all his balls and can not borrow the same type of ball from another player in his group he is not allowed to finish the round. He is DQ'ed. But I would hazard to say if a player actually put himself in that position he most likely would just withdraw. At least WGT does let us finish our round albeit with the rock.

    Search "John Daly in Austria":

If you want to quit a real Pro tournament in full health, shoot all your balls into the lake.

    Be polite, say "Good bye!"

If you are playing with a group of mates in a real gofl game...  you chuck all ya balls in the lake, they be rolling on the ground laughing there heads off....lol.

...and to continue the game they would throw you a ball or two to continue
