Tournaments where you have no chance to do well

  I've always suspected that there's "score limitation" in place when you enter tournaments, extra deviation, stray shots wind & break not effecting ball normally and some times you get decent rounds where every thing plays normally.

  Having won the Olympic Club ready go yesterday i wasn't quite sure about entering it today because 99% of the time for me, if i win a tournament, next time i play that same tournament i will get extreme deviation and clubs seem all wrong too, let alone wind vanishing.  I went along and entered tournament and as thought, it was a waste of $$ as i had no chance in hell of doing well, you pay to enter a tournament where at best you get half your money back.  It was normal round up until hole 14, the short easy hole with trees down the left.  This was first sign of "score limitation" taking effect.  A dinged drive aimed right side of fairway starts off left totally off course and hits tree and i land in deep rough. I bogey hole. Next short par 3, 19 mph right to left wind i land bang on my aim marker! Hole #16 I aim AGAIN RIGHT SIDE of f'way, my dinged shot goes left and hits tree and lost ball.  My 5th shot i'm 87 yards from pin use 80 yard wedge in 15 mph tailwind and it goes 81 yards! and then the resulting putt has 4 squares of break, putt goes STRAIGHT! Another double bogey from a drive which was totally NOT RIGHT! All those mentioned shots were all totally ASTRAY and was blatant deviation/score limitation to ruin round (& a brand new ball lost)

  I dont expect to do well in every tournament, but let those tournaments be decided by MY MISTAKES not blatant score limitation-deviation or "faulty shots". I can live with me missing ding late or early but for a dinged shot to react like you've pressed an inch early..ppppffffftttt. Simple, next time i win i will stay away from that tournament for at least a few days

  Unlucky Chris, i learnt a long time ago to steer clear of all those type of games. There was once a time when i did well in them, but not anymore. Havent played an RG in about a year now, lol.

  I was just about to delete the post having calmed down and thought" what the hell, fed up of complaining about these constant dinged shots taking a mind of their own & also causing you to loose a brand new ball" but you posted before i pressed delete. But simple solution im doing is just  log off and not bother entering tournaments that you are just going to loose how ever you play.

  They have nothing to say about it because WGT doesn't think that the Dinged Shot bug exist. I am sure that it is not a bug but actually a part of the programming due to 3rd party Meter Dinger programs.

  FWIW Chris, I didn't see your post as a typical rant, just a recap of what you saw. I have an idea you might want to look at-use a WGT ball for a week and compare the results. I only suggest this because in a whacky CC CTTH tournament I set out to rid myself of all of the garbage balls in my bag. After getting used to the faster meter it was quite fun to not care about losing any of them, just whacked away. Until I got to the Tour-SDs....

  I made Legend with the SDs and i15 irons so the fast meter was refreshing but what really got my attention was the severely reduced deviation on missed shots!! I was astounded. I had forgotten just how good that ball was and that was with the older i15s. With the R11s and CG wedges that ball has taken on a new perspective. 

  Having used the Callaway (s) ball for a long time I got used to what to expect when I missed a shot-basically anything. With the SD ball that feeling went away and now when I miss a shot I'm still in the ball park, not bouncing off some tree across the fairway nowhere near where I aimed.

  I have always believed a lot of meter skips and stalls were coming from the balls that adjust the meter speed. I also believe that the more attributes a ball has, the greater the deviation on misses. Rediscovering the SD ball reinforces this and I would be curious to see if you see a difference. The way you have your yardages in order would surely change because of the reduced spin and distance over what you're using now but you're capable and can adjust.

  Exactly ! There is more chance for a meter skip with lower metered balls and I find the smoothest meter is with the Nike level 71 Ball but that is with the lower G20 set. I have about 16 of the SD balls for when I go broke because there is no way I am going to buy balls for a virtual game. That is just ridiculous. 

  I tried those black slow meter balls and to me they are just plain junk. Meter is jittery on up and down swing whereas with the SD and Level 71 Nike the meter is silky smooth . Just my observations.

  I recommend the 155 credit WGT Legend balls for testing. I use Nike's for Tourneys but I still think they're inconsistent and too deviant. When I use the WGT 155's, the play is very consistent and the distance, once you dial them in, is spot on. I play in a couple of Tourneys with them just for comparison and once you get used to the meter, I think the performance is just fine. Also the meter is pure perfect 'cause they're not slowing it down so much. The miss dings don't leave the planet as YJ said and my level of trepidation while playing is zero. I just don't think about knocking them in the tress or water at all while playing. I actually take more chances with the 155's than I do with the Nike's. I can buy 3 sleeves for near the price of 1 sleeve of Nike so going for the green in 2 over water on par 5's is an easy decision. I hit a 3 Wood approach  to 4 feet yesterday on CCC #18 with left to right wind missing the ding on the left by too much. Never thought about the ball getting wet.
