My disappointment in the second set of pins on Kiawah is off the chart. We should be putting through windmills on the greens.
The problem with the angles has been noted in several threads. Number 15 is the worst in my opinion, but all of them have serious issues. Additionally, they are virtually impossible to read ... with the white dots going in multiple directions and contradictory directions depending on the view. Finally, I don't know if anyone else has noted the occasions where the putt speeds up then slows down ... jukes left then right. The putts move more than a Hoyt Wilhelm knuckle-ball.
Since there is no way to know which set of pins is being used in any given tournament, I will not be playing Kiawah any more.
I don't mind difficult greens ... in fact I enjoy them. Oakmont, Olympic and Congressional are my three favorite courses. None of them have easy greens. They are difficult but fair. The new pins on Congressional are a case in point. They are all excellent. They are readable and the camera angles are good. That doesn't mean they are easy -- they aren't. It just means they are fair.
Kiawah is another problem altogether. It is tricked up to the point it is unplayable in my opinion.
