    YankeeJim:
Technology scares people when they're faced with trying to figure it out. :-(

Wouldn't say scared but definately daunting..Had this, (my 1st computer @ 42 yrs of age) for 10 months now and trying to work out how to take the advice ppl post here about browsers / flashes etc CAN seem like 'rocket science'. Loathe  to press anything at times in case I do somethng irreparable..

Had this thing popping up for the last two weeks saying"adobe reader update ready to install" , don't think it has anything to do with 'flash' but I don't touch it just in case wgt goes back to how it was 6/7 weeks ago. (Ok, I would say scared :) )

So your probably right  most of the issues could be solved / mimimised if everyone was as clued up as the next guy..(working on it)....Andy

I look forward to helping you, and anyone else, with how to properly maintain their machine to optimize their WGT experience.

I believe a connotation of the word: "ignorance" is that you are unwilling to learn about a situation you are in. Your statement here is the complete opposite of that. I commend you and hope others will follow your example :)

Let it update, it has nothing to do with Flash. If you want to stop it from happening again, go to your msconfig file (Start/Run/msconfig) and uncheck the Adobe boxes.

LOL. Your consternation about doing anything is totally understandable. Be brave.:-)

Are WGT to blame for meter glitches.

The vast majority of the time, meter glitches are in my opinion isp / pc / network carrier / flash / browser related.

Everyone knows I like to squeal from time to time but one has to be fair and say that the vast majority of meter glitches are not wgt's fault.

    Quijotazo:

WGT should try to move on from depending on Adobe Flash Player and adapt all their game-design into a more reliable game-engine-player.

What are the realistic alternatives. I'd like to learn about them, need a clue.  :-)

My first "virtual-golf experience" was in 1995 with the first version of PGA Tour (that I know).  You had to install the "game-engine" into your computer and if your hard drive and memory were decently ok then you would play a very smooth and consistent game.

Today, any game designed for a game-engine or console can be re-programmed into another game-engine-console (from X-Box to Wii or Play Station per example), and I am talking about games with a lot of graphics and intense real time motion.

Virtual golf does not represent such a hudge amount of digital information transit, other than transition between situations, loading new graphics and conditions from one shot to another, besides that, the only real motion-generation would be the aiming direction, the meter slide and our final click command.

Having said that, and trying to resume what could be an even larger thread, if I knew that one could load a more efficient "game-engine" into one's computer, and Flash didn't have to carry so many shots from so many players at the same time, plus advertising, plus friends connecting in and off, anymore, I would love it, specially because the smoothness of the game would be more controllable and in direct relation with our "computer's health" (lol).  One could even play this beautiful game without having to be on line (in solo games I mean) leaving internet experience for multi-player games only, but of coarse, we all like to play with each other, so, the experience on line would be exactly the same, but handled by individual game-engines less dependent of one and only game-engine for all the players of WGT at the same time.

I just know that, for people in the industry of game-programming, this would be very easily doable, or not ?

Anyway, don't mind me much, I love WGT the way it is now.  If they keep it like this for the next thirty years I'll be happy all the way ... I am just throwing some possibilities, which we all are entitled to do with respect and good vibes.

HTML 5 should be here soon enough. That will hopefully resolve most issues of flash being a peice of crap.

Now THAT is a Pandora's Box! You should start up a new thread on this subject, Beached, I'm sure we could talk for days about it :)

    WGTpizza:

Ahh... time for the "meter" conversation to come back, eh?

Andyson pretty much nailed it - Are all meter problems WGT's fault? No. If you look at those "hundreds" of threads that describe meter issues, you may find as many as half of them were resolved with some troubleshooting.

Is it possible to have a flawless meter 100% of the time? Ask the people in this community who have achieved it. Is it likely? No. Due to the inherent nature of the environment this games live in, there will always be a possibility of meter issues. It's unavoidable. WGT will do whatever we can on our end to optimize the meter, but it should be known that the majority of solutions for meter problems come from performing maintenance on the user end. That is an opinion I will stand by based off my experience helping this community.

If you buy the plane ticket and meals Ill go to their house and optimize their computers for them . Then they would be like ohhh I could have done that myself and Ill be like yeah you should have lol.
