    russellie:

While most of us are enjoying a friendly game and some rants and raves this week end, just stop and spare a thought for all those that are being ravaged by the hurricanes and storms,

It only takes a breath to take your Life- House-Children and loved ones away.

    Just spare a thought.

    Russ

Natures wrath can be very unforgiving..We have had our fair share here in the gulfcoast. Thoughts and prayers with all.

I'm east of NYC and on the bad side of this storm and I live (and work) on the water, it's 60-100ft across the street, I'm not looking forward to the basement flooding again. Last year during Irene we lost electricity for 6 days, hopefully that won't happen this time around.

A police car just drove by announcing "that this is a mandatory evacuation area, all residents must leave now". Oddly enough, it's not even raining yet.

Oh well,we're tough New Englanders here, we'll be fine.

Thank you Russ, and others, for your thoughts.

edit- OBR, was a great game playing you in our cc vs cc tourney recently. Keep safe,it looks like you're gonna get hit hard, I wish you and your family all the best.

    bubbadork:

There are a lot of things (storms, etc.) that take people's lives.  On the other hand there are a lot of ignorant pussies that panic over the slightest little thing.  I guess people are looking for excitement and stories in a life where such things are extremely rare.

I live where there are many hurricanes, ^^^^^^^^ this guy has a very big mouth. Love to meet him.

P.S. You would think someone should be moderating his post.

They are expecting the water to be 16-18 feet above the normal high tide line. The water here is already higher than what it was during and after Irene. (SE Connecticut) Please forgive us who are about to flood and lose 100's of thousands of dollars of homes and memories. We shouldn't be panicking at all, your right.

    This summer:

At 10am EST this morning(Sunday). Storm was more than 500 miles away still.

10am Today (Monday). Water is about 100 feet from house.

Anyone being too over complacent about nature really are just courting trouble.

If there's storms on the way, be on alert and be prepared that's all. It costs nothing but can save so much in the way of potential devastation and personal loss.

Sure there will always be people who say "it never effects us here".....................but let me tell you...nature has the uncanny & unreliable habit of making first time evers happen.

Just keep on your toes & be safe.
