ill add this here quick to not make a huge deal. the meters on the 2 open courses are a bit jumpy. Hopefully some of that is due to traffic though

Main Point - Jesus do greens really get this fast? This might be the first time i ever was happy im not good enough to make the PGA tour

    MarionGolfer:

    Oakmont just destroyed me.

To just repeatedly watch the ball roll... and roll.... and roll... and roll....

I shot a 94.  What a very demoralizing two rounds of golf for me.  Wow.

I'll give them another shot of course, but just... wow.

keep workin it. it gets better. I shot a 69 my first run through oakmont thanks to me gettin lucky and holing an eagle on 11

I felt like I was extremely lucky to shoot a 78 at Oakmont. Made a lot of very lucky 6-footers that had huge amounts of slope. Even made a couple of 10+ foot putts which I rarely make. My round would've easily been a 82 or worse had I not been lucky.

On St. Andrews, I was far from lucky. The tees were so far back that I had trouble reaching the fairway on quite a few holes (especially Hole 2). Hit it into the fescue and made triple-bogey. I was 8 over par thru 6 holes, had 3 three-putts and 4 lip-out putts, and that's when I quit my round. I'll retry it sometime later. I guess users with default equipment have no chance of going low at St. Andrews...

also keep in mind, ive noticed that left is worst. If you miss left it goes way more left than if you miss right it goes right

I've noticed that quite a few times, but I thought it was just me. Now I've realized that it's actually true that missing it left results in a more errant shot...

Also, just finished 18 holes of Open Qualifying, and it was probably my toughest 18 holes ever. It's great how WGT made this game such a tough test, it being tougher than any other simulation golf game. I shot a very lucky 81 which could've easily been a 85 or worse. Because my putting was better than usual I managed to shoot only a 81.

the left thing is usually true in real life too. because anytime you pull you usually have a bit more power in it

Just shot 65 and i hit well enough that on regular st andrews it would been in the 50's. This course is a BEAST

The qualifiers for both st Andrews and Oakmont are only viable for the masters and obsessives. The cut line is already down in the 70s and will probably be about 65 in no time. 95% of us have no chance and its not even worth trying.

True, but it is fun to try. You will also be a much better player for doing it.

Only 156 people qualify. That is top tier only.

Last year the guys that you see at the top of all the leader boards were trying to get to the fairways at BPB with the starter equipment.......  although not in the top tier myself I am a much better player for trying right along with them.

    Happy hitting

that's a pretty stiff challenge from champ tees, 67 first crack at it. teeball is real critical now, caught a 21 mph headwind on 17.  fairway is just reachable and very narrow dinged a drive and it trickled into rough. greens were alot faster which can be a good thing on certain putts, all in all a nice hard course like it should be.
