Very narrow fairways so most shots land in the rough. Can't go for the hole because curves of rough are in the way. Starter clubs only reach the hilly greens with 1 putt left for par. I doubt I'll ever get 70 on an 18. I give the whole course two F-minus thumbs down.

Starter clubs can't even reach a lot of the fairways making the course no fun to play whatsoever.

You guys are playing from the tips, with starter clubs, when the course opens up under regular play you will have more chances from closer tees.  The course is great though, its a real challenge for all levels.

St Andy's is the same from the tips.

bethpage was the same way. I think thats the point. All they did was give it the real distances that it has when it hosts the open

Although from the back tees it's extremely hard, I still like the course because it's very rare that you have an opportunity to play a course like this from the Internet with the pictures looking this good. I find it to be maybe not easier than St. Andrews, but a lot more fair since the fairways are generally all reachable, and the greens are not as rediculously bumpy.

I remember saying the same thing last year trying to qualify at BPB. What a freaking nightmare made worse by not having club choices like today. If I don't qualify this year it's sure not going to be because the courses are too hard or the equipment's lame. The tools are there this time so I fully expect to have a chance to at least qualify.

Even better, with the talent level it takes to play well in these opens I am curious to see the leaderboard. It might be enlightening.

It will take a lot of practice with Oakmont as fast as the greens are.
