The greens are indeed extremely tough, but I'm going to say that the greens are actually EASIER than the beastly greens at St. Andrews. At St. Andrews, any putt made from 5 or more feet is quite an accomplishment, and any two-putt made from over 35 feet is also quite an accomplishment.

remember this is also supposed to be the opens. So they should be like lightning. I, personally, Love how hard it is.

The game was gettin to where I would play and it was just like repeat repeat, the challenge gets lost after awhile. This challenge definately wont get lost and the game is so much more fun now.

With starter stuff im sure it can get frustrating, but tiger woods is 59.99 for PS3. Drop 15-20 bucks on here and get better equiptment. its still definately worth the value and the game becomes pretty awesome

Here are some of my experiences on Oakmont's greens:

On the 6th hole, I had a 15-footer for birdie, my putt missed and rolled 6.5 feet past the hole. then at the 7th hole, I decided to be conservative and hit it lighter on my 14-foot par putt, but it ended up 6 feet short. On the 9th hole, my 3rd shot went 10 feet over the pin, then rolled back to only 4 inches from the hole. Then on the 10th hole, my chip shot from the front of the green rolled 15 feet past the hole. Then on the 16th hole I had a 25-footer for birdie, but my putt went 12 feet past the hole.

I understand that.. but I have no problem with the distance or long irons. It's the putting. Seems impossible. I just played the front nine. battled out the first few for par. overall had two birdies and two bogies going into 9 (E). Triple bogied it. (on the GIR). bogeyed the tenth and gave up! lol.

Only my second try thus far. I'll keep at it.

Any Master's have any tricks on putting on the slippery green's on Oakmont? It is very hard to stop the ball and putt..

Truth be told it's silly for ANYONE to offer advice at this point. As of yet I don't see how anyone could possibly know. Most of the advice thus far is subjective and in the big picture terrible.

There is no physical or semantical way to define luck; It's completely non-linear. Unpredictable. Anyone shooting sub-par on this course is nothing more than just that; Lucky.

Blah blah statistics and equations here there.... such naivety and pomp.

Funny seeing people posting on this thread as if they're already experts. THE "authority". LOL!! Let's see them scorecards STUDS!
