I find it very disconcerting that some of the top players on this site, all seem to echo the same sentiment as regards they feel they are being forced out of this game!! Ok they may be wrong but they put up some very valid points.I'm admittedly an average Legend but without out these top players such as Sam who would we aspire to? who would give us invaluable tips on playing this game such as my friend AllyKennedy, posting videos on Utube showing us how this game can be played well Priestess being 1 of them.

At the end of the day your name would be in the record books for winning the Annual virtual open but wouldn't it be more satisfying if you were actually able to beat the top players on this site along the way?

Why shouldn't the top players be able to reap the rewards of there time and dedication to this game? via gift cards as after all it's a virtual game other than prestige what else is out there for them?

At the end of the day WGT wouldn't it make more sense to bring back the gift cards, which will keep a majority of these top players happy and you would still bring in rake as they would still play the high roller RG'S, or you may find more of these top players selling there credits to other players at the fraction of the price it would cost to purchase from yourselves(again costing you revenue) before shutting the door behind them as they leave this site for good!!.

Agree,,once you reach a  top level of play..incentive for gr8 play is needed,.

After all.what good is,1000's of creds.if all you can do with them.Is give some back for balls and sticks.and let the rest go to waist,

Or give gifts for the fun of it

    Agreed.

My guess is tho that the top players will now be gifting friends much more and not saving the credits to cash in...in effect WGT will lose revenue if this happens as the good players fund their friends.

I wonder if WGT has thought about that?

If say it took 6 months for the best here to cash in a $250 card  (I forget the exchange rate...300K cr...or similar?)  assuming they (top players) play less but gift out 100K in clubs and balls, etc in say a year...seem a loss in the asset column to me.

It was 165K for the $250 card, yet it was over 6 times the price if bought... The current rates for tee times (which are very unlikely to be used by anyone) are even more crazy, probably 20-50 times the actual value...

It's a loss in the asset column for WGT only if the top players gift specifically to those who would spend money for that equipment/balls anyway. I don't know how to be sure who is doing that (WGT obviously won't tell), other than the people one knows personally. Perhaps a screenshot of profile with prior transactions may be a proof for those asking for gifts :-) An indirect proof may be looking who has fairly good equipment & are active players, but has little prize money and few matchplay, skin victories and few good scores in Blitz games (the latter 3 are not included in the displayed prize money as I understand).

Yes the gift cards were over 6x the value of the actual item, but this was achievable by the top players in this game(i mean a sandbagger actually bragged in the forums that he had just bought his 3rd Amazon gift voucher off beating opponents) but the new hike up in the Elite Collection for what they consider worthless pointless tat(Avatar, bag) was just too much to stomach!

This may  have been lost in translation, but are you advocating a big brother style approach by WGT in order for them to keep an eye on the top players to see how they spend/use there hard earned credits, in order to nip it in the bud,in the sense of they don't want anything harming there revenue? As i should imagine it wouldn't be some kind of free forall's in the open forum,i should think this would be done within there close circle of friends.

I am only summising as i'm not one of these top players, but i do feel for them as they seem to be getting a raw deal from WGT as regards the Elite Collection.

I don't entirely understand what you mean. I simply advocate that when/if those top players choose to gift their credits, if they want for WGT's revenue to take a hit, they should preferably gift them to players who would purchase those credits otherwise. Of course if WGT wants to totally lose whatever remains on their reputation, they may track, ban, or do whatever else to such players (if they are legally allowed to do so which I doubt).

I hope however that they will respond to overwhelming pressure at least from the top players, but not only, and make some sensible decisions with primarily their long-term, community building interests in mind as opposed to short-term profit urge...

I have been a WGT member for a good while.  Started in the fall of 2009 so I have seen changes, both good and bad come along.

I never paid any attention to the elite collection.  My goal was never to amass credits to buy something on WGT, it was to enjoy myself and make new online friends.  I have amassed a good number of credits from time to time and I try to keep enough in stock to play any tournaments I want too, keep myself in equipment and balls.  The rest I try to give away to friends, deserving players, etc.  I gave away about 25k in credits during Christmas and probably another 10k since the new year.

I have heard people mention taking payments for credits via Pay Pal.  I assume they will accept a payment and buy you what you want or lose a challenge game to you.  I have no idea what the going rate for this is but I assume it is under 50%.  I also have no idea as to what WGT thinks about this, obviously it is not to their advantage but I don't see how it can be a violation of the rules and agreements.

If you are an elite player who is playing only to cash in your credits for a round of golf, an amazon gift card, etc. then the changes in the Elite collection probably suck for you, however if you are like 99% of the WGT players, those prizes mean nothing to you and you don't care what the fuss is about.

In terms of WGT looking over the top players to see what they use their credits for, of course they can do so, you can look at what every single player spends his credits on when you have them purchase those items through WGT.  I don't see what matters about that, do you not think that every single online retailer does this.
