  #1 @ Olympic is just straight-up, crazy stupid.

  A 525-yard par 4?  With a second shot that's 27-33 feet above the hole, but will give you the exact distance of your club, sometimes even when there's a decent tail wind?  Yeah, that's certainly for real.

  Yes it is.

   

  Don't know what you're expecting people to say...go look at the Olympic website and you'll see that it is in fact a 525 yd par 4 that plays fairly flat on the second because the ball almost always gets slowed down by the upslope in front of the green.

  I expect people to say what they will say.  Yes, I realize that it's a fair representation of the actual hole on the actual course, but what's crazy is that it's not a par four.  I also realize that for the 2012 U.S. Open, for some insane reason, it was made a par four, but for the four previous U.S. Opens at Olympic, it was a par five.  Any hole where you can only reach the green on your second shot 20% of the time is NOT a par four hole, unless someone has changed what the word "par" means.

  Then there is the tee shot.  The hole calls for a power fade, but since you can't fade or draw (a glaring omission), unless you have a left to right wind, you risk driving it through the fairway into the 40-50 rough.  Or take your chances going over the "ghost trees" on the right, which the ball usually flies through.  Most of the time, anyway.  I watched the best players in the world play this hole in the US Open.  The shot starts left center, cuts and catches the downslope.

  If you want to post a music video or other audio that has uninteresting visuals or perhaps a still picture that you don't want to show, then you can reduce the video window to just show the progress bar & controls. Just set the dimensions to about 450 wide and 24 high, and add  ?autohide=0  to the end of the video URL, to ensure the controls are not hidden.
  
  

  
  It's also possible to specify a start and stop time if you don't want the entire video to play, in which case the start and stop times are added to the URL like this...

  The times should be in seconds (3mins start time and 5mins stop time in this example) and when posted to the forum the progress bar will display something like this...
  
  

  
  If the YouTube logo on the controls bar is clicked to watch the video on their site, the stop time will not function, but the start time should.
  
  To make both the start and stop times work with a fullscreen video, then a link, with a small modification, is only way I could get this to work. Add your start and stop times to the URL as before, and in addition, replace the watch?v=  part of the URL with v/ so it changes from...

  Agreed, but, once again, by the standard definitions of par for a hole, if you are having to chip/pitch onto the green on your third shot at least 80% of the time, that hole is almost never considered a par four.

  Only thing that changes is your score in relation to par, net score stays the same:)

  I consider myself to be average at best but i hit this green in 2 about 90% of the time. And the times I don't it is not because I couldn't reach it. I simply missed the ding enough to be on the fringe or in the rough next to the green. We play this just like the U.S. Open did.

  You also mentioned the 4 previous U.S. Opens playing it as a par 5. There are a few reasons. First the average driving distance in 1998, the last year the U.S. Open was played there until this year,was 286 or so, it was close to 300 this year. number 2 they played it around 10 to 15 yards shorter this year than in the past. Reason number 3 the hole is way downhill making it play even shorter than the listed distance. Those 3 factors make the hole play way too short to be played as a par 5 in the U.S. Open. I have reached it in 2 with as little as a driver and a 6 iron. If they had played it as a par 5 there would have been so many eagles on it that it would have been a joke.

  Stopping the meter at or just outside the bars next to the "ding" bar produces the desired shots. It's good for ##1, 5(*), 10 at this course. Add others ad libitum.
