Thanks Jeff! That's very kind of you.

(Now when are you going to dust off the hickories and join in some of this fun?!!! One thing I'll say, once you get through one of these, and pick up the 'fancy clubs' again, with artificial flat lies, the game seems remarkably easy!)

    overtheedge:

HUUUUUUGE PROPS to Corwyn and anyone else involved in keeping this tournament running and on track.

WTG Corwyn. You are doing an outstanding job. I truly dont think there are too many others in the community who would go to a "degree of detail"  than you have with this tournament. Just giving credit where credit is due.

Once again I have to agree with the sentiment re: Corwyn's ability to run a tourney. His detail and follow up is second to none. He does everything imaginable except hit the shots for us. :)

Played my 2nd round with MizzyMan last night. He played some great golf in 8 ½ holes. Then his putter went on vacation and his day was pretty much wasted. Shame tbh cause he had something nice going.

Myself opend a bit shaky but after what I consider my best uneven lies round ever I managed to shoot a good 70.

Thanks for a fun round Mizzy and good luck with the rest.

    Mati

Corwyn, this has been a great tourney--thanks for offering to mark with me and being patient with the back-n-forth. Hoping to get some Oly practice in this week. I remember reading awhile back that you guys were playing some skins that sounds awesome if you see me green.

Tim, thanks again for the round was really a good time!

Most fun I had playing the game since I made legend.

    Great round, Mati!

(Looks like I jumped the gun in putting you in with the 5th grouping. Hope you don't mind, now that suggested pairings have been made!)

I'll update Leaderboard later this morning...

Well, as we bid farewell to The Old Course, here is the 2nd Round Leaderboard, and below it, Overall Standings in the Tournament and for all the special prizes.

Everything can be perused at this link, or by right-clicking the image below, open in new tab & enlarge.

Hans now has just a 2 stroke lead in the tournament proper, but in some respects is lucky to still be out front, as contender after contender was unable to take full advantage of St Andrews' slightly easier conditions. But for those who got a tough wind set, it certainly didn't seem that easy at all! The low score of the 2nd Round came from Neil (unclenewy), with a wonderful 69, but it was surprising that the course only yielded 7 sub-par rounds, and nobody was able to 'go low.'

Neil is also up top on the GIR standings, and 2nd to Hans in Most Birdies, and to Corwyn in Least Bogies. Along with Cerino, these four have opened up a gap at the top of the leaderboard, but there's a strong chasing group not too far behind...

Phil (Phaxda) still holds the lead in Closest Ave. Distance to the Pin, with an impressive 14.65ft, while we have 3 super putters heading up the Total Distance Made Putts standings: Hans, Mike (MBaggese), and Gary (Woodo), all of whom are over 200 ft. Mike recorded an extraordinary 127.69 feet in his 2nd round.

St. Andrews also saw the probable resolution of joe's special prize for Longest Drive. It's hard to imagine anything longer coming from the next 2 rounds, and there was high drama as Ben (bhoese) pipped Gary's 310.34 drive, by a mere 6 and a half inches to record the new target, and almost certain winning distance, of 310.52 yds. (Joe got the closest guess and will likely win his own sleeve of Callys by a mere yard or so from Corwyn's guess!)

Also notable were the number of players recording huge score improvements from Round 1 to Round 2: Phil, 16 shots better; Tim (TeeWade), 14 shots better; Mati, Gary and David (hyena), 12 shots better; and Shiner, 11 shots better.

A fascinating round to see us through to the halfway stage, and setting us all up for a great rest of the tourney.

Thank you everyone, for your continued commitment to getting your rounds in, and especially to all of you who have helped out others as markers.
