Well, Jörg (johehejo) and I played our 2nd Round at St. Andrews this morning (I ran out of time to post right after... had to race to collect kids from school):
Corwyn: 70 johehejo: 80
That was my first-ever round under par in a Tough-It-Out tourney, woohoo! ... but It was grueling... I think we got a mixed bag in terms of winds, some really horrible: 31mph headwind on Road Hole, 26mph headwind on #7 (where I hit the other fwy successfully and eventually scrambled a par, but Jörg found OB en route to a triple), 25mph headwind on #4 where neither of us could reach green as a result, and the worst wind possible on #14... 31mph SW causing palpitations as we flirted with OB following the route up the wrong fairway. The times when we got tailwinds didn't seem to be that helpful, lol! #1 and #2 I find harder with a tailwind. #12 was our other tailwind (with some sidewind), and in combo with the back pin, was awkward... But the rest were sidewinds, which was OK!
For me, it was a fairly solid round that could have been great if more putts had dropped. I'd managed -5 in a 2 9s practice... but also several 9s much worse! For some reason, 15 foot seemed to be my magic length (except on the last, boo!). I sunk 3 at that length, but missed a very makeable 16ft on #11, 12 footer on #9 (failing to birdie that crucial hole... I'd left myself between clubs on tee shot), and just missing an 11 footer on #5, and 12 footer on #14 meant I failed to birdie either par5. Another 12 footer for birdie was missed on #2, but that was crazy sidehill, but the most annoying miss was a 6 footer on #6 after a beautiful punch approach over the ridge.
My only bogey came on #13, when I got an odd result from what I thought was a perfect tee shot, fractionally missing ding against a strong right-to-left and against wind. It flew way left almost falling into the first bunker, and from there I was uphill and just too far away. After going in fescue and failing to make the green, I was mighty relieved to sink a curling 8 footer for single bogey.
Apart from two unfortunate closing bogeys, and a tough time on #2, and #7, Jörg had played really nice, steady golf, just the putter coming between him and a nice score. He played #13 perfectly, bouncing his approach on to 6ft below the hole... but the putt stopped agonizingly short.

Thanks for the company for these 2 rounds, Jörg! Good luck in the rest of the tourney!
