Pizza but that would mean that it is his system that is in need of maintenance and you know it can't be his top of the line PC.(somewhat sarcastic) When are they going to learn that it is in most cases their system that needs optimization and not WGT's??? Just a little work on our end makes for a much better game experience

This is the part I was referring to.

Fair enough. If my endorsement of a player's comment that included, admittedly, some sarcasm actually offended someone, then I am truly sorry.

Otherwise, how about we get back to helping gerryniswonger?

I admitted in my post that it was sarcastic.I didn't try to hide it like a few of other posters do.Because most people come here with the attitude that it all WGT's responsibility to make the game run smoothly on their machine without them having to do any optimization on their own machine. If my post offended you I'm sorry. But I work hard to keep my machine working well with flash and I do a pretty good job of it. And if a 66 year old man with very little actual computer training can do it most people should be able to.

The bottom line is, by compressing the files individually listed by this sites recommendation, would it do any damage to my playing on WGT?  If no damage will be done why not compress their suggestions and see if it helps?  I am only having occaisional problems with the meter and every once in a while the page freezes but they seem to happen at the most inconvenient times.

I have no idea how using GZIP will affect your WGT game play, so I do not recommend it.

I see, it sounds like you are experiencing a very common problem, which is usually remedied by following some simple maintenance steps:

    First, try Clearing Your Cache

Then, try Clearing Your Flash Cache

Let us know the results of your troubleshooting :)

    Oldbayrunner:
The uncompression is done on the web browser server prior to the page being displayed therefore no uncompressing is needed by ones PC.

Sorry OBR I stand by what I said.  Your statement above is blatantly wrong.  This diagram from your reference clearly shows the decoding (uncompressing) of the gzip file being done on the Web browser which is on ones PC.

    YourPC------------------------------->WGT'sServers------------------------------>YourPC

Sure looks to me like more work for our PC processor to decode the gzip file.

Hey guys, please keep this thread free of chatter so that gerryniswonger can get the help he needs.

    Thanks.

Andyson is correct; the decompression is done on the local PC. For total effectiveness one must compare the time saved in transmission to the time expended for decompression. Typically, one would make a net gain.

Generally (with appropriate settings), this will affect load times but not meter stutter.

Recommending zip programs has little value. The browser will use its own method.
