Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, maybe tonight.
In terms of using it for score average, I don't think that is a good idea, even if you apply some factor to it. Par threes are generally the highest handicap holes on a golf course, even the more difficult ones. I had a conversation with a USGA rating official about this several years ago. Hard to believe that a 230 yard par three can be rated as the 15th handicap hole when you have a 500 yard par five.
He explained to me that the rating of handicap holes takes the view point of an 18 handicap golfer. In their playing, it is much easier to hit one good shot to reach the green or get close on a par 3, than it is to put 3 together to get on the par 5. I had never thought of it in those terms but it makes sense. Having to hit a good driver, a good second and then a good wedge to the short par 5 requires 3 decent shots whereas the par 3 just requires a good mid iron shot and keeping in mind that the 18 handicap golfer isn't playing from the back tees, generally the white tees.
Anyway look forward to playing the new 18.
