I personally would like to see Private club tournaments able to option- tiered leveled tournaments. I believe the legends and masters have earned the bragging rights for the most part, but also would like to create tournaments were only amatures and below could enter, or pros or below could enter ect...ect...ect... .
I think newer players would stay more active knowing they had a shot at a trophy or a few credit payouts and as they got better at playing would go up in the teir tournaments for higher stakes and may even spend RL money to help themselves get better.
The way I do it in my club is to assign the tournament in the title and description of tournament .. For example:
tour pros and below 18hole unlimited 5 credit to enter
legend and below 18hole unlimited 5 credits to enter
and when I create a tournament like this, i create 3 of the exact same(usually), noting the exception of the title description. This way if an amature wants to enter a legend or below tourney, they most likely will get overrun by the bigger sticks , but they have the option to try and the same amature can enter the amature tournament with maybe some hope of winning it.
This is by far not a perfect way of doing it, but the integrity of the players in my club usually follow it. ( The Tour masters will even enter the credit tourneys for lower levels, to up the purse but not play in it , and visa-versa).
If there is a prize attached to the tourney only the level dictated by type of tourney will win the prize, such as if its an amature tournament and a pro enters and wins- he may win the trophy and/or credits , but he will not win the prize. It would be the highest score amature.
Multi-round tournaments in my club are run the same way basically, only exception for the grand prize-(say a spider putter or whatever..ect...) the winner must of completed all required rounds and had the lowest score average for all rounds required.
It takes a bit of legwork and a calculater, as the owner, but it can be done. It would be a lot easier though if i could have the option in setting up a tournament to do this.
Thx
just a thought
