I'd agree somewhat about the complaints about the deep rough. I think you should still be able to hit out of the fescue and weeds a little better than you can. I'm sorry, but in real golf, even if you're dealing with a ball that's almost completely buried in the mud, you can still manage 10 yards. If there's 6 inch weeds, you can still whack down on the ball with an iron and get 30-60 yards out of it. I hit out of the weeds once in WGT, and I think I only managed to move the ball about 4 ft with a 100% power pitching wedge. It didn't get me out, and I had to hit again, and I got the same result (which got me out of the weeds on the second shot.)
I don't think it would've gone any better with better irons, though. Maybe I could've gotten 5 ft instead of 4 ft, but hey... that's not going to help very much. I don't think it's a scam, but I do think you should be able to easily put the ball back into the fairway even if you're 30 ft away from it. Hitting the ball 4-5 ft over and over and over again is a little ridiculous.
