For those that care to experiment, and for those like me that are on 64 bit machines, there is a nice stripped down and 64 bit version of firefox called waterfox. In addition it has a nice working 64 bit flash addon.

Like any version of firefox you should disable all addons except the flash and adbocker.

Some of our problems are because we are working with 32 bit programs on 64 bit machines with 64 bit OS's.

It's open source and working flawlessly for me presently, try it.

    WATERFOX

I have found taking a "practice" swing helps clear the meter. Since I got Windows 8 a lot of my meter issues have cleared up too.  hope that helps someone.

    sigh....

i must say, as somebody who never had meter issues before (i used to see all the rant threads here and think WTF are they talking about), but ever since this was changed my meter has been stuttering and jumping all over the place - i don't know if this is the cause or not (unhappy coincidence maybe) but boy is it annoying now !!!!

and as mentioned elsewhere here, i am (firstly) staggered that some people hold their swing for 15secs before hitting, (second) staggered that that causes problems for WGT, and (thirdly) staggered that you think implementing a "timer" is the way to fix such a problem

I'm with you on that, 15 seconds would reduce precision and forgiveness to nill, however to each their own I suppose and what do i care. Asking us to clean this and that, do this and that, and WGT placing more junk code into the meter can and is only causing more problems.

The meter should be just that a meter, nothing more nothing less.

My observation is that this extra timer does cause extra CPU load for some seconds when pulling up the meter - extra time to spend with the raised meter before a shot can be executed undisturbed by the items to be influenced by the player.

We call this "einen Schuss ins Knie", a shot in their own knee.

Smooth meter here using a dell xps i7 PC with 8 Gig Ram and 2 gig graphics card and i even used my kids Pc to play ready go which is only dual core, 1 GIG RAM and no graphics card and both are perfectly smooth.  The reason i think for this is the fact I'm using MAXTHON 3!!!

I understand why WGT chooses to keep the meters unstable and thus inaccurate. And I also understand why their programming for each shot (wind, elevation, distance etc.) is so inconsistent. I also understand why the new players mysteriously become Masters way before their time. Let's face it folks, it's all about the money.

But I also understand why the players in their frustration quit right in the middle of a game or quit playing WGT all together. It sometimes appears, since WGT refuses to acknowledge many of their policies, that the players don't control their own game. Many of the same shots that I have played on the same course differ so greatly that one wonders who programmed this, Daffy Duck. WGT also acknowledges that some of the players know how to cheat, especially Legends and Tour Masters. And finally, why do we have to play the same old courses? The old courses are so poorly programmed that attempting to make a decent shot sometimes seems like a waste of time.

But what disturbs me the most is that WGT doesn't appear to care about eliminating many of these problems. They seem to cater to the Legends complains. WGT has a great product, but it's a shame that they won't attempt to make it more consistent, open in their policies, and fairer for everyone.

Maybe it's a Karma thing going on then Chris,as where alot of people are having meter issues whilst yours is smooth, you must be getting all there VEM shots with all your WTF posts lol.

I also use Maxthon3 with windows8,and where i generally get a smoothish meter i get 1 meter spike per game regardless.I'm not a Techy but here is my system that i'm using :-

    General
        Operating System    Microsoft Windows 8
        Central Processor    Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU B980 @ 2.40GHz

I was totally plagued with all sorts of meter issues 2 months ago.  I was playing on an old Acer single core processor with 4 gig of RAM and onboard graphics.  I recently upgraded when I found a great deal on a new Hp workstation and now,  my meter is smooth as silk on every shot.  The ONLY time I saw a stutter on it was when I had downloaded the most recent version of Flash, and that was only on one shot.  For me, I am convinced that the single core processor and the now available 1.4 gig graphics card cured my ills.

Now, if I could just hit the freakin ding at least 95% of the time  ;-)

    Waterford....Steve2golf  thanks for the link..I run on a 64 bit win 7

I have been a big proponent of maxtthon3 & 4.. and have switched to your suggestion... First off I noticed how much less cpu load this has over Maxthon which makes a big difference in my meter fluctuations. Normally with Maxthon and Chrome on my Dou Core I would have at least a constant 14-20% load showing in my task manager after the files processed, with slight cpu spikes from the wgt game portion of the browser before swinging. If I released my swing anytime during any cpu spikes it would stutter my meter. Sometimes I would have to wait 7-8 seconds before swinging then maybe hold another 7 secs or so on my back swing  for everything to settle so I would get a smooth meter. With this one it has less than 10 then drops to 0 very rapidly within a couple seconds with no cpu spikes.

For anyone else as it is with most Browsers etc. what may work very well on my computer may not on anyone else's so I still maintain trying different suggestions and products until you find the combination that works best for yours.
