I haven't once been excited to putt in WGT- it just doesn't translate so I don't care enough to try- does anyone else feel this way? I'd love it if WGT made putting optional (say automatic 2 putt once you reach the green?) I'm positive I'd play past the 3rd hole if they did. Love to hear comments especially if it gets WGT to introduce a toggle for putting. Cheers

Putting is the hardest part of the game. But it is also the hardest part of the real game as well. The putting here is fairly accurate simulation of the real game. Sure there a few greens that aren't true to the break show but most are. You just have to work at it and learn how to putt. It takes time to learn to putt well. And there will never be a "toggle" for putting. This is just like real golf in that sense. You get to the green and you putt, In match play your opponent can concede you a putt but only in match play just like real life.

Why would you play a game you don,t care to learn but expect the game to cater to your wish,s.Perhaps you should try Tiger Woods golf,it may be more to your liking.

I believe they say Drive for Show, Putt for Dough. Kind of says it all. The putting will cause you to speak in tongues at times. It is the sole reason I do not shoot in the high 20's every round. Grin and bear it, and have fun.

In all honesty WGT is not a bad game.  Sure they can be greedy and parts need to be improved especially some of the angles, but an understanding of putting will lead to more consistent results in my opinion.  I don't know what your real life scores are but honestly putting is an art to be learned.  In short I don't share your issue here although I thin it a shame WGT do not have a practice green to help beginners learn the art or a driving range etc...............

Keep with it and you WILL be fine!

I've about had it with this putting. I consistently miss from under 3 feet. Putt from one side of the hole on a level green without moving the arrow and the ball will break by a few to several inches. Putt from the other side, miss. Putt from the 1st side, with adjustments, the ball travels straight, another miss. Goes from 3 ft, to 2.2ft, to 1.6ft, to 0.3ft and finally sink it. From birdie to double/triple bogey. Next hole I'll birdie. Then quadruple bogey.  On 18 holes, a few birdies and pars, the rest bogey+. I don't want the game to be boringly easy, but it's not especially fun.

Have a look at the putting tips in the column on the right >>>>>

That'll get your distance putting much closer then it's 'just' a case of judging the break, (apparently that can be mastered in a matter of years :-( ).

Also note, from less than 3 feet, (5 feet on slow greens) you can often ignore the break if you just hit it quite a bit harder but aim for just off the centre of the hole.

EDIT: This  is the thread that gives some VERY good putting tips read and digest.

    Enjoy.

    This is easy to fix:

Take the Starter putter from your inventory instead of the SWING putter - the latter is ridiculously inconsistant.

Then, observe the green speed, Standard being 100% of the scale. Next stop putting length, try to get it close, taking up- and downslope into account. Caution: green speed varies between the tiers.

Third step, side slope - a question of practice IMHO.

There are Putting Tips in the FAQ ==>

    Have fun!

I concur. Putting is an art and does take some time to learn. This forum has great advice for the novice putter and I recommend spending time reading and practicing. Practicing and reading. Reading and practicing.

Under no circumstances should you ever have anything large and weighty within arms length reach while you learn the art. The damage could be catastrophic. :) lol
