I think most people are fed up by the obviously inconsistent meter speeds, many of us believe one reason for this maybe to counteract the auto-dinger, (and I know it's out there i've seen it and the youtube video on how to install and set it up).

If this is the reason for the inconsistencies (in the meter speed), you are ruining a great game for the vast majority to defeat the minority of cheaters. Perhaps a different method could be used? Could you instead randomly vary the length of the meter? That way the auto-dinger (which is based on times) wouldn't know the starting point to work out the time and the rest of us who judge the meter by eye, would still have the same chances of hitting the ding.

Yes I accept this would spoil things for those of us with bits of paper on the bottom of our monitors, but if WGT could sell a putter pal but for the main clubs too, that automatically adjusts to the meter size then most of us would pay for it, especially if it means we can have a consistent meter speed which could be slowed down (as now) by the purchase of special balls / clubs etc.

Wall me the details (if you really have seen it)...

    I can't find zip on u-tube and that's a pretty bold statement.

Holy crap, I think I found what John was refering to. If this is the case yes something needs to be done to counter this.

Pretty sad really. I am pleased I just play for fun.

I must confess, when I first read this post I thought auto-dingers were just a myth and if they existed, they were probably flawed.

So I searched and with the help of John, discovered the truth that they do exist, and appear to work well (thats the assumption they do work well). Would make the game very boring IMO and as I don't play for credits, will not adversley affect me. But it does annoy me that some will stoop so low.

As John said what is the solution to combat such use? I am not computer savvy to know that answer but perhaps does explain a slightly inconsistent meter speed - I thought this was my laptop. Whether or not varying the meter length will work but surely WGT can counter the use (they may do so already). but would be interested to hear from those IT experts out there.

We already have inconsistent meter speeds so what good is an auto ding based on time? Apart from that, there are more important things to consider and/or factor in with each shot than hitting the ding, missing the ding by a pixel or 2 either side can actually be beneficial in many cases anyway imo.

I personally don't like the idea of diff size meters because I have all my clubs various power yardages linked to my homemade putterpal and would REALLY rather not have to re-measure 5 different putterpals for what is an already inconsistent meter :-)

Also, what if I wish to change my putter scale upwards to slow the meter down, would my meter length then change too? Meaning I now have to re-check the line/speed/change putterpals? What if I decide instead of x club with fbs, I want y club with zero spin or a bit of top spin, would my meter length change thus forcing me to re-think the whole shot each time?

Nah, Good idea in essence John and I know where you are coming from but a bad idea in reality, it has the potential to cause even more frustration than the severe VEM some of us are suffering at the moment.

We are after consistency here not even more inconsistency :-)

    Peace,

    Liz

With respect to Liz, I have read far too many times on the question of auto dinger cheats that "hitting the ding" is unimportant and somehow devalues or somehow mitigates the actual cheat.

    This is near sighted nonesense.

What an auto dinger cheat does is actually provide consistency.  For sure, missing the ding is often beneficial - but you have to miss it the right amount.  A mouse click timer takes all of the chance out of it.

My small security was that it couldn't work for less than 100% shots, and most importantly putts.  But this latest iteration suggests they have overcome this problem and the thing auto adjusts now allowing for ding putting.

If I had to say how many putts I've missed from missing the ding it would pretty much be ALL OF THEM.  So a cheat that made the ding on each putt would probably improve my scores by anything from 1-3 shots per 9 holes!  And I reckon I'm pretty decent at it!

Cheats that use this thing would (and i dare say do) prosper.

Ok lets cut to the chase, would someone use it and report back if it works or not and actually makes you better and more consistent.

I believe nothing on youtube, and if this is the same program I  have seen before on youtube, $30.00 per year, give me a break. If you look around further you will see reports that these do not ding as advertised.

I think we have far greater issues to worry about, this is a flash based game, rather then look around for auto dingers, google flash hacks.

I do not believe someone wishing to cheat to make a phone call, will bother with an auto dinger, I believe they will just hack the flash to insert as many credits as they so desire.

Google that and you will see all sorts of promises as well, speed hacks, credit hacks, score hacks etc....

If we believe all the promises made on the net we have far greater problems then worrying about this game.

And I have seen evidence of this at play possibly, when playing skins a while back and 4 of us were tied and nine skins on the line, last player a pro who had been playing poorly, suddenly a screen pops up and they got a 1 on the par 4, no shot taken, no nothing and they won all 9 skins. Was that a hack or a burp of some kind, don't know, cant say, no proof. Just moved on.

In addition if this were true and available, would anybody have any chance anymore, a 28 at cabo would not even get your credits back if that were true, and all the scores would be 24 and 25 and 26. But this is not so, which tells me, there is nothing to worry about except my own play.

I believe those that focus on this stuff is just trying to justify their own in ability to play this game and they believe their parents that they are the greatest and anyone who can beat them must be cheating.

Those people are going to grow up sad, once they get off the mothers breast and encounter the realities of the real world.
