So because today is opening day of the Baseball season, I would like to pose a couple of questions to player.

    1. What is your favorite baseball team and why?

    2. What is your earliest Baseball memory and who got you interested in Baseball?

My favorite baseball team is the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants! No I am not a band wagon jumper. I have been a fan since I was 5 years old. I grew up in San Francisco so it was pretty much a default that I would be a Giants fan. My dad used to take me to games three or four times a year at Candlestick Park. If you have never been to San Francisco in the summer time near the water, it is freezing. The thing I remember the most is sitting with my dad and begging him to get me a hot chocolate. Now this was probably the nastiest hot chocolate in the world but, dammit it was hot! So yeah going to games with my dad was what got me into baseball and growing up here in San Francisco made me a Giants Fan.

I look forward to reading everyone's stories.

    WGTdbloshoe,

First I wanted to thank you guys for the MLB ball.

Minnesota Twinkies be my favorite since im a minisodian myself  hehehe.

As for memories there 1st world series win would be up there but my favorite was as a young kid, dad took me to a game at the old met stadium.  we had some of the cheap seats in in center field if I recall.   Harmon Killebrew jacked one  and ball came right at us.  Dad reached up to try and bare hand it  and it about took his arm off.  The ball went up a couple rows then right behind us.  The dude that actually got the ball  then was nice enough to give it to dad and his throbbing hand (hehehe).   After the game we got to talk with the twins and got the ball signed by the team.

Still have the ball and it has some names on it like H. Killebrew, Tony "O" (Oliva),  Bob Allison,  among others

Thanx for the trip down memory lane   hehehe

    WGTdbloshoe,

My favorite experience was when I was about 18 yrs old. I went down to the Municipal stadium to throw the ball around out of boredom. And noticed a group of baseball players practicing at a baseball field adjacent to the stadium. Walked up to take a closer look and they saw my glove and asked if I wanted to practice with them. Man those guys could really whip that ball around the field; an even laughed a couple of times at me when I had to take my glove off a couple of times  from the sting & numbness of catching their balls. They told me afterwards they were The Texas Rangers; I said naw really?. I thought they were bluffing since they were in street attire. Man that was the day I will always remember. They even asked me to come over during pre-game to watch them play, after telling them I grew up without a dad and never been to a real baseball game.

Found out later at a baseball card store that if I would have had them all sign a ball it would have been worth 600.00 in 1984

Closest I ever came to getting a ball at a game was when I was a kid at an Oakland A's game, the game where Ricky Henderson broke the steals record, the ball landed right in front of me but I couldn't get to it because of a railing.  Ball bounced over my head and a couple rows back.  Was not a happy kid!

St. Louis Cardinals all the way.

St. Louis has a rich history of baseball and are second to the Yankees in the most World Series won. St. Louis was a city that had both American and National league teams at the same time. The Cardinals have also had some of Baseball's greatest players to ever play the game. Thanks WGT for the baseball vapor golf balls. I have two now. : )

Edit: This is the St. Louis Cardinals 122nd season.

    Go Cards!!!

25 years in SoCal and they were my team too. Are you old enough to remember Maury Wills and how the Giants used to water down the infield to slow him down? Or Juan Marichal cracking Johnny Roseboro over the head with a bat during a game because they threw inside to him? LOL. Talk about a rivalry.

I remember to this day what the hated Yankees did to them in the WS in 1962. Crushing defeat for an 11 year old when McCovey smoked the last out. Good to see them back in it even if from 3000 miles away and hooked on the Yankees.

    :-)

Gotta LOVE those NY Yankees....."Best MLB Team money can buy"!!!  For 2013,        The Yankees payroll is the TOP PAID team.....at just under $198 Million.....Geeezzzzz, almost $200 Million!!!

A Rod's annual salary is $30 million.  The San Diego Padres' 2013 payroll is approx. $52 Million (bottom of the list of payrolls for the MLB)........yeah, I'm sure they'll be in the World Series very soon...LOL.

How about a SALARY CAP for MLB???   There's a SALARY CAP for NFL teams.

    Just saying.

    Bob
