    Dubfore:

It just occured to me recently, I was wondering would the constant use of wedges on greens be a big contributing factor on players shooting regular scores under 60?

I use to use the wedge on the green lots and my avg. was close to 70. I rarely use it now ( maybe once on 9 and maybe not at all) and my avg. is in the low 60's.Sooo..what is your point exactly Dubie ? Personally, it makes zero difference to me what my average is, and if I come up against a shot where the wedge will help" git-r-done", I will use it.

I play some TL friends and can't recall ever seeing one of them hit a wedge on the green.. With that said, it wouldn't matter to me what club they used on the green, since it is a matter of choice and a completely legal shot. To suggest top players are wedging putts on a regular basis is just downright silly.

It might be downright silly to you, but if you read back on some of the comments here, it's very clear that a lot of players are using wedges on greens, and the argument here is about using them to gain an advantage in putting CTTH t's, yes P-U-T-T-I-N-G. It has been proven that it happens, a lot!  Putt for dough,  wedge for wimps.!

Yah.... Whatever U say. Post a replay of a wedge shot and tell us all how "easy" it was.

Edit: I wish you would make up your mind what you are bitchin' about. First it was wedge on putting blitz and now its top players shooting sub 60 rounds and "possibly" wedging putts to do it.(That is what I was referring to as downright silly)  I'm starting to think you are related to my wife and just want to be bitchin' about something!

I'm just curious if wedging on greens are a big factor in the very low stroke play scores. The 'bitchin', as you call it is simply this, I think putting should be made with putters. If WGT were to ban using wedges for even a month in CTTH competitions, I'm betting you would see a marked difference in the scores, and many new names on the winners/leaders boards.

I might be related to your wife. Has she got Irish blood?  Is she a communist?

Yes Dubie.... Irish to the bone, and one stubborn beeotch' too. Oh well....life goes on. Are you suggesting we all putt in all CTTH games? That would be a riot....but I think I will pass and hit a wedge off the tee, and maybe even the odd one on the green.

I seldom do these away from the odd one in my CC so has to be read with that in mind, but even here I would say not necessarily at all IMO.

Maybe on speeds up to standard a long wedge might be as effective veering a tiny bit more reliable, on a hole or two maybe.

I don't usually wedge for anything. OK in a ranked round I might if had a bunker between me and the hole, but not had to for a long time. Personally I would never have an issue with some folks putting and some wedging - skills to both.

A putt is a putt is a putt. That's what you do in a putting competition.
