Rule 14-1 is subject to interpretation so let it be....im just wondering where one must juxtapose a VIRTUAL game?  Unless , Im mistaken I would guess -with REALITY..and so my imagination would see two players, PLAYER A,  the Virtual WGT golfer and the OTHER, PLAYER B, a Real Fairway Golfer both invited to a PUTTING CHALLENGE at ...let's say the Practice Putting Greens beside the Clubhouse....WHAT CLUB would you guess will be required as entry to the challlenge and WHAT would most likely a player have tucked in his arm?    I mean for a moment let's be honest, can we?...Rule 14-1...let it be. :-)

It just excites me to think as I continue to hope for a DRIVING ACCURACY CHALLENGE...if we get the same thread in substance and in form of Argument when that day comes....I promise to QUIT WGT...in the meantime, I can ony admire the skill the wedgers have developed to match and sometimes beat what WE, putters have acquired...whereas, I'd be pissed before...I just play my game and do my best to beat MY BEST of 1.04 M  points in the PUTTING BLITZ,back in March... with a putter...

Sure is a long way to beat the Top Putters..or Wedgers...but always honored and  pleased to accept a challenge.

    GL to all, HF!!

    P.S. Right-click to peek:-)

@Romax   I'm not sure what 'statement' of mine you are referring to on 30th June.  And furthermore, all my comments are in support of putting only in CTTH putting competitions where credits are at stake.  It's virtually impossible to force anyone on here to do anything, literally!  And just to remind you,  I did not start this thread.

Having said all that, it seems pointless getting up a petition anyway if what Tightrope says below is true. I missed this comment he made earlier .

"That said, wedges will not be banned, no matter how many would sign a petition, because they cant. WGT could earn millions by just allowing us to take out the PW from our Iron set and replace it with an expensive ATV or Callaway, but they are not able to twaek their software in that direction. Same problem with banning wedges in putting blitzes."

I will do a poll among my own club members and see how they feel about it, for or against.  I will post the results here.

Putt for pros, wedge for wimps!

Thanks for the contributions, apart from the foul language, it was a good debate.  (Is it over?)

    ps@ Romax, I'm not a communist, I'm a Socialist!!!  :-)

Ive been playing Golf for 20 years and I have never seen anyone play a wedge or any other club except a putter on the Green. I believe using a wedge can give a player an unfair advantage over another as he can skip over undulations on a green that might otherwise require a more skilful approach. I am against it.

Then you haven't played many IRL courses, have you?  There are diabolical designs out there where a sand trap severely indents into a green forcing you to play a wedge to even have a shot at a 2 putt.

It just occured to me recently, I was wondering would the constant use of wedges on greens be a big contributing factor on players shooting regular scores under 60?

I doubt it. I play the puttng blitz with a wedge and while it may be easier from 20+ yards, I find it much harder inside of about 10 yards as the forgiveness and speed of a wedge meter is much tougher to deal with than a putter.

That' your experience Ducat, but I've proved in my own club by banning wedges in CTTH club games, that wedging does make it easier. We had one guy won most of them with sub 20 ft total scores, since the wedge ban,  -and it's only been three competitions- his best is scraping third place.

    No in short.

Now as another shot in the armoury it's a nice to have, and it needs to be learned, but learning it won't make a 68 rounder in to a 58 rounder.  Over the course of a year maybe knowing it would perhaps contribute .00000001 off your average.

I'm pretty sure that most of those players that  consistently shoot sub 60's don't use wedges on the green. I play with many very good players and not 1 uses their wedge, unless of course there is a bunker or something like that in the path, but 99.9% it's the putter.

Many would be good at it, same as they are good at many shots. On a list of things to learn to cut your average is way way down.  Learn close in wedges shots to get close then worry about icing that may come in handy very now and then as far as score matters........
