Haha, I would only play the uneven one then I think ;-)

    lol.

I think I'd also just play the UL one so I could be in the hard one. The "pretend the entire couse is flat",unrealistic  version is going to be like every other round.

The Big Boys make up 3% of the people playing here. WGT would lose thousands for sure think about that for a second,,lol. Many players will play this tourney, and lose many balls,,,and not even qualify. Uneven lies would lose all those players. Can't see it. Maybe 2 Opens, not just a uneven lie tourney. Would not be to smart a decision on WGT's part i would not think.

I'd assume the qual would be standard, players do need to learn the course first.

...which would create another problem (or fascinating twist).  If they roll out Merion like they did Olympic, the only way to play the course until the Open is over is in qualifying - thus, any single-play UL round must be done without the benefit of practicing Merion in UL mode first.

It's true the other way around, as well.  If the qualifying is UL, the first flat round would be the very first on the flats for everybody that makes the cut.

Either way, that's a relative advantage to the "feel" players over the note-scribblers.

That's the 1,000,000 credit question.  Is he a man ????

    Or is he a muppet ... if he's a muppet ... then he's a muppet of a man.

    hahaha

Pretending every lie, including in bunkers, is perfectly flat is flawed as well.

I just played the Cabo uneven and I quite enjoyed it

get some practice in for both rounds of the US Open being on uneven :)

    that's the idea :)

I knew it, I just new  it ;-)
Good WGT will let the robots to have their own tournament, I am just very glad there will be an Uneven Lies too.
I might  be wrong here but I think I see the picture for the future, lets say 2014, Uneven Lies (fixed and finished) will be default for Legend and Tour Legends tournaments.
Btw, when will Merion be ready to be played WGT (either as normal lies or uneven lies), may is tomorrow. If there is not a precise day, any chance to know more or less when in may Merion will be  released?

As opposed to the one where you cannot adjust your stance, swing arc and ball position.

One format is a least predictable and therefore much fairer.

At least the severity of the lie and how much it's going to affect your shot is 95% consistent.

UL is nowhere close to being consistent. It's a complete guessing game. And the fact with have no way to compensate for the UL with a draw/fade option compounds it's flaws.

I just played the UL STA tourney. On #1 fairway I had what I would say is a 97% flat lie. The dot was moving just ever so slightly away from me. IE: ball below my feet which means it's going right or pushed. But I also had a 13mph wind from right to left that should negate the slight sidehill lie. 43 yrds. I hit my 50yrd wedge for 45 yrds knowing that lie is going to take a couple yards off. I ended up barely clearing the ditch and 11 yrds right of the pin.

    Completely flawed.

As I've said in the past, I'm all for uneven lies and making the game more realistic but the way it's set up is not. Especially not without the option to draw/fade the ball. To only be able to offset the UL with a pull/push (early/late meter click) doesn't cut it. We need the ability to MOVE the ball once in flight.

Which you would think would be pretty easy by just having the ability to move the spin dot sideways instead of just up and down.

    That would be cool!.

I'm not a programmer, but if the dot as an effect up/down on the ball, why not sideways?

I hope WGT has a nice surprise for players who like Uneven Lies

    • the dot moving sideways
    • not so drastic lie effect when pitching, chipping of floating around the green
    • bigger uneven lie grid with more than 2 dots moving in both directions
    • perhaps a different grid, then the actual, with a very precise info about the lie to make better judgements
    • caddy help
    • etc.
