Merion basket sticks

  I know the USGA has no standard for flag stick height, though I think 7 feet is recommended as a minimum height.

  Are Merion's basket sticks shorter than 7 feet?

  I think you will find that Merions Wicker baskets are within the standard, although I thought it was 6 feet.

  They only replaced the flag with the basket, so I am assuming the stick itself is still regular height.

  Merion is a tough course to play and the baskets are one of the reasons, no indication of wind direction or strength at the pin.

  There are also no distance markers at Merion and GPS range finders are banned.

  I like the baskets. When I birdie, I like to pretend it is a pinata, and spin several times while yelling, "Tweet tweet TWEET!" Then I whack that pinata to try and collect my prize. Last one had Bit O' Honeys though.. yuck..
