  Are you sure it's not legal to keep that info on file?  I'm no legal expert, but I'm sure that a lot of places you use a credit card (or might) have an electronic file of some sort that has that info stored.  What was the name of that big chain store that got hacked a while back?  I agree it shouldn't be done, but that doesn't make it illegal...
