I'm respectfully calling for someone that's an authority on WGT (WGTadmin, WGT(Stay Classy)Pizza, WGTIcon MisterWGT and so on...) to do the following:

Confirm whether the game uses a Virtual Equipment Model or not?

I for one am not against the fair use of a system like this which is indiscriminate and adds additional variables to the game to achieve more realistic outcomes.

Some players still believe it's just it Victim.Excuse.Mentality for less than satisfactory results, believing that there is no VEM.

At the other extreme there are many players who are convinced WGT is 'out to get them' and blame WGT for manipulating the game with VEM for financial gain.

I've seen so many threads discussing the topic of VEM, with players giving their input/opinions but WGT are very quiet on the subject and it just seems to go around in circles while new threads on the same topic appear. Here's one that went on for 7 pages and no definitive answer!

So once more what I am suggesting is to respectfully lay the whole topic of VEM to rest.

A straight answer. Is it used? Yes or No. If WGT does use is how do they feel it benefits the game?

Most people would like an official response from WGT, not just to satisfy their curiosity and shed some light on the topic but if nothing else to put a stop to the whingers and complainers rants.

Come on WGT show the man some respect, at least reply to his question. Please don't insult him and  just say yes/no give a decent reply.

Forget it. WGT stands to gain absolutely zero by even joining conversations about VEM let alone say whether or not they use it. Why would they? The game is what it is, take it or leave it. That's their stance (inferred, of course.)

What difference does it make anyway? Suppose they came right out and said "Yeah, we use it."  Then what? What would/could you possibly do with that inane piece of information? Quit playing? Bring down the empire by leaving?

Having read those same threads you have I don't think there's any doubt that the patented VEM is being used by WGT to do what they do. They don't headhunt, they don't steal balls, they don't script tournaments and they won't elaborate on any of it. That's just the way it is and we're all left to speculation, foil inspired or otherwise.  Sorry.

Pizza confirmed the use of VEM last year.

I remembered this thread from several years ago.   When the VEM monster first reared it's ugly head.   Since then (if you search) you'll find that WGT has commented on VEM several times in the forums.  The problem is ... no one believes them.

This thread may / may not answer your question but .. it's a start and has comments directly from WGT.    Heck - it may leave you with more questions ..

That is not the point Jim, it's just decent to give the man a reply. True there is nothing you or anyone can do about, there is no defense, there is no force field to stop it.

Just talking about common decency with a reply from the source.

& thats it, in a nutshell.

VEM in one incarnation or another has been in PC games now for many years.

What the hell is wrong with everyone, not agreeing that the man deserves an answer from the person or persons  he asked .

Nevertheless they don't, in many cases.

It starts with the omission of a communique on changes after any service downtime.

    Main unanswered issues are:

    - what are they doing, and why?

    - what's their plans, what has been cancelled?

    - any site / user statistics (except that new HIO feature)

    - admittance of failures / problems (partly)

    - progress of work on problems
