Ive stayed away from un even lies, and for good reason, just played my 1st round, because of country club tourney, and its not really realistic, maybe its just me, but when i go out and play un even lies at my home course, i usually aim at the green and hit it on or near relatively straight, not having to aim two fairways over and dropping two clubs. also the less u ding the shot, the better the ball flight... weird.

i agree 100%, i know the game isn't perfect, god knows there are plenty of imperfections with this game, but this feature is so unrealistic that it boggles the mind. In all my experiences with playing this game in real life, never have i ever had to aim as you said, 2 fairways over and shanking or flubbing my shot on purpose just to get the ball to go straight....I like the idea of uneven lies but this was a move to the extreme....

I only want to play uneven lies now, for a couple reasons:

    1.  I think it is a MUCH more realistic game with UELs. I dopn't play actual golf but I watch a lot on TV and the challenges posed by UELs makes the game play out much more like what I see the pros dealing with. I don't know if I just got used to it or they tweaked the way it works (probably some of both), but I do not experience the sort of extreme crazy aiming and shots some complained about early on. It seems to work fine for me and seems very appropriate. Now if I play even lies it feels shallow and thin.

    2. I seem to have better winnings in UEL Ready Gos :)  In regular RGs I just can't compete with players out there how seem to have this game nailed, as if they could play it in their sleep. But for whatever reason - fewer people entering, more difficult play, whatever - I seem for the moment at least to have much better chances in UEL RGs.

I hope WGT will keep the feature and I really would love to see more UEL RGs!

How does it make the game more realistic when UL is for far off it isn't funny. How often do you have to aim your pitch or chip shot  15 yards away from the pin to counteract the slope of your lie??? Never!!! UL will be great when and if they ever get it right but so far it is no where near right. And if they keep it as it is they need to incorporate shot shaping into the game so it will be a little more realistic.

Couldn't agree with you more...very very unrealistic. 2 to 3 degree downhill or uphill lies, you shouldn't have to aim 40 to 50 yds left or right....lmao. Amazingly stupid concept that's not even close to being real.

I like the UL a whole lot because it's so hard to master. The Unrealistic Lies that we normally play has clouded players minds and created an environment in which we expect the game to be extremely easy and predictable. In Uneven Lies there are no predictable shots. Ever hear of a buried downhill lie in a bunker?  In UL you gotta learn how to play it instead of the false reality of every shot being on perfectly flat ground 100% of the time.

UL takes a lot longer to learn, is way harder and plays the ground as a factor in the game. It can crush ones ego in an instant and/or reward the dedicated with some amazing shots. Sounds about just like real golf to me.

*BTW, I'm co-hosting an Uneven Lies Starter Club Tourney for the willing and brave in the Community Organized Tournaments Section. It's called Tough It Out 3. Anyone can join that wants to learn and play the UL with like minded folks.

That doesn't sound like anything I've experienced, but i'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean. Can you clarify or give a specific example?

But yes there are some situations where you really just cannot go straight at the hole. You might even have to go backwards. That's realistic in my opinion, based on what I've seen of Pro golf on TV.

if you ever had played a round in real life you would know that the UL effect is absolutely ridicolous and has nothing to do with real golf. For me UL makes the game uninterssting.

I've found the uneven lies to be challenging, but I would have to agree with others that it is a caricature of real golf. If I'm taking a shot with the ball a foot below my stance I can expect it to go right and would aim 5 - 10 feet left of the pin. In the game I need to aim that shot 10 - 20 yards left. And the up-slope is equally distorted. I can be hitting a 60 degree wedge shot from a severe up-slope next to the green at a meter level where it should go 40 yards in standard play - it goes 5 yds.  I suppose once you understand the vagaries it's something you can master. It also seems to me that putts are far less forgiving when you play an UEL tournament. A putt hit perfectly with the right read seems to have a greater tendency to lip out. Anyone else experience that?

Someone had put together a great tutorial on putting, regarding what % strength to use with what level greens, 80% for tournament, 75% for champion etc. Would be nice to have something similar for UEL to know when you think to aim 5 yds left of the pin because the ball is 6 inches below your feet, really you need to aim 20.
